      Fitness and bodybuilding for varicose veins: what, why and why?

      Our cardiovascular system is made up of blood vessels known as arteries and veins. Arteries carry oxygen-rich blood from the heart to our organs/muscles, veins return blood to the lungs to re-oxygenate it. Veins have valves that prevent blood from flowing back. When the veins stretch, they become visible under the skin, and in this case we say that there are varicose veins in the legs and ankles.

      There are two main vein systems in the legs:

    85. All of these veins have one-way valves that ensure that blood flows towards the heart. Failure of these valves allows blood to flow in the opposite direction (down the vein) and results in pressure overload while standing. This excess pressure causes the veins to dilate so that they do not close properly. Blood then flows back into the leg along these veins and leads to the development of varicose veins. Increased pressure in the veins also contributes to the development of spider veins and bruising (discolored areas).

      It is worth saying that women more often suffer from varicose veins; on average, every second woman over the age of 40 has certain problems with the leg veins. Varicose veins most often appear during the first trimester of pregnancy. During it, there is an increase in the level of hormones and the volume of blood, which fills and expands the veins. In addition, an enlarged uterus leads to increased pressure on the veins. A woman has the right to expect an improvement in the condition of her leg veins within 3 months after childbirth.

      Treatment of varicose veins can occur in two ways, the first is lifestyle changes, the second is surgical intervention (for example, intravenous laser therapy). The main goals of treatment are to relieve symptoms, prevent complications, and improve overall appearance.

      How to do fitness/bodybuilding with varicose veins?

      To answer this question, let’s determine the portrait of the person who asked it. It looks like this to me:
