Summer is the time to show off a beautiful pedicure in open sandals! But, unfortunately, not everyone can boast of luxurious legs. In summer, the most common problem that occurs is cracks between the toes. They are very painful and cause discomfort. Why did the cracks appear and how can you get rid of them quickly?
1. It’s “guilty” to walk barefoot. In the summer, walking without shoes is very important, and without proper care, the skin of the feet quickly becomes rough, dries out and cracks.
2. The second reason is the presence of serious diseases of the endocrine system, for example, diabetes. Such people are very likely to have skin problems.
3. Cracks can be the result of a fungal infection of the feet.
If you are sure that you do not have other symptoms of fungus (itching between the fingers, burning), and you are not sick with endocrine problems, then you can deal with cracks at home. In other cases, you need to consult a doctor who can prescribe serious drug treatment.
• Soap and soda foot baths. For 2 liters of boiling water you will need a teaspoon of soda, 1 tablespoon of shaved laundry soap. Immerse your feet in the bath for half an hour, then apply moisturizer and put on cotton socks.
• Calendula baths. Add a glass of infusion from calendula flowers to two liters of water, soak your feet for 40 minutes. You can also use coltsfoot, chamomile or plantain for baths.
Baths can be performed daily, and onion gruel will help enhance the effect:
• Grate the onion, apply the pulp to your feet, wrap tightly in polyethylene and leave overnight. In the morning, wash your feet thoroughly, treat the skin with pumice stone and apply moisturizer.
You can also prepare the ointment yourself:
• Grind the cinquefoil root, measure 5 grams. Mix with a glass of butter and boil, and then cool - the ointment is ready.
• Pour 200 grams of boiling water over a glass of pine needles and boil for 20 minutes in a water bath. Then strain, add a spoonful of butter and 30 drops of camphor alcohol. This ointment not only quickly eliminates cracks between the toes, but is also an excellent preventative.
It is better to treat a fungal infection of the feet under the supervision of a mycologist. In this case, you can avoid relapse for a long time. Typically, broad-spectrum antifungal ointments are prescribed - econazole, miconazole, clotrimazole. They need to be used according to a special scheme for several weeks. You should not stop using the ointment after the symptoms disappear; you must complete the course of treatment.
• Wearing the correct shoes. In summer it should be well ventilated, and in winter it should retain heat and absorb moisture. At the same time, shoes or boots should not be tight.
• Choose tights or socks made from natural fabrics.
• Dry your feet after showering.
• When visiting the sauna, swimming pool or beach, maintain hygiene and wear rubber slippers.
• The diet should contain foods rich in vitamins A and E - this will avoid dry skin.
• Most importantly, don’t forget to regularly pamper your feet with moisturizer.
It is enough to devote just a few minutes a day to your feet. The result will not take long to arrive - your feet will be in perfect condition, and you will avoid many foot problems
