10 exercises after bunion surgery
Therapeutic gymnastics is a mandatory component of foot rehabilitation; if you do not work out the joints in the first weeks, later it will be impossible for them to regain full mobility. The doctor will show you the complex and monitor the equipment.
Sit on the floor or on a chair. Bend your leg at the knee. With one hand you hold the forefoot, and with the other you gently grab the big toe at the very base and slowly move it upward until a slight pain occurs. The finger should remain straight during the movement. Once you reach the top, slowly count to ten. Perform the exercise 5-7 times. Repeat the same, tilting your finger down. Gently straighten your foot.
- Sitting on a chair, smoothly bend and straighten all your fingers at the same time without using your hands. Do at least 5-10 repetitions.
- While sitting on a chair, slowly roll a stick or medium-sized ball with your feet. Perform 5-10 repetitions.
- Grasp the crumpled ball of paper with your feet and lift it. Try crumpling the paper with your foot instead of your hand. Repeat the movement 4-5 times.
- As you master the exercise, complicate the task: try to lift a pencil, a piece of fabric, a sponge, a toy cube.
- Spread and bring your heels together without lifting your toes off the floor.
- Repeat at least 4-5 times.
- Bend and straighten your feet to the maximum. Slide them back and forth using your fingers.
- Repeat each movement 4-5 times.
- Place your feet on the massage mat. Simulate walking on the mat for 20-30 seconds.
- Stretch your legs and lift your feet off the floor. Perform circular movements with your feet inward.
Repeat 4-5 times.
Foreign experience shows that outpatient surgery is now becoming a serious alternative to inpatient treatment. Thus, in Europe, about 70% of all surgical operations are performed on an outpatient basis.
At the Scandinavian Health Center, the training of doctors, treatment methods, and equipment used today fully meet European requirements for the safety and effectiveness of treatment.
Advantages of a one-day hospital
Carrying out operations in a one-day hospital setting has a number of advantages:
no need for a long hospital stay
The normal rhythm of life is not disturbed, rehabilitation takes place at home
eliminates the risk of nosocomial infection
saving patient time on preoperative preparation
financial savings
Compliance with global standards
At the Scandinavian Health Center, the direction of outpatient surgery has been developing since 2001 and is based on the principles of compliance with world standards when conducting outpatient operations, which is achieved through:
- experienced highly qualified doctors and nursing staff at the hospital level
- an integrated approach to patient management by a doctor from the moment of initial appointment to monitoring the patient during the rehabilitation period
- mandatory preoperative examination
- application of anemic and low-traumatic treatment methods
- equipping the operating room in accordance with modern safety requirements: modern high-class surgical and anesthesiological equipment, high-quality instruments and suture material.
