Such a problem as excess weight has long acquired global proportions. According to WHO, weight loss programs are already needed by more than one billion people on the planet. In economically developed countries, approximately 50% of the population is overweight, and thirty percent require treatment for obesity.
The concept of excess weight is familiar to many women and girls firsthand. Almost everyone independently tried to create various weight loss programs for themselves, but more often than not all such attempts ended in failure. The temporary loss of several kilograms later turned into their return.
If there is a problem of extra pounds, then first you need to find out whether it is just excess weight, or whether obesity treatment is required. This is where Brock's formula comes to the rescue - weight in centimeters minus one hundred - this is the ideal weight. If the excess is up to 10%, we are talking about excess weight. And if excess weight is more than 10%, then this is already obesity and weight loss programs are needed. Obesity can be 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th degree.
Of course, obesity treatment is best done under the guidance of professionals. At our medical center, weight loss programs are prepared for each patient. Obesity treatment is carried out with the participation of doctors, psychologists, and trainers. Weight loss programs take into account the reasons that prompted this particular patient to gain weight, and obesity treatment is carried out taking into account these characteristics.
Obesity can cause the development of cardiovascular diseases, and mortality from them ranks first in the world. Having extra pounds, you cannot be immune from the onset of diabetes, kidney disease, and shortness of breath. In the end, dozens of extra pounds simply deprive a person of the opportunity to live a full life.
To undergo obesity treatment in Kyiv, you can seek the help of professionals. Thanks to our medical center, treatment of obesity in Kyiv is not a problem. Treatment for overweight and all forms of obesity
Losing weight is the dream of almost every woman, no matter how many kilograms the scale shows. However, excessive thinness can sometimes worsen body proportions and overall appearance: some chubby women look much sexier than their thin rivals. When contacting the center, many women are asked how many extra pounds they would like to lose? The answer is most often vague – “to a normal weight.” At the same time, not everyone understands how much it should be.
The norm of weight in relation to height is most often calculated using Brock's formula. The essence of the calculation is to subtract 100 from the height taken in centimeters - this will be the average ideal weight. Depending on the type of constitution, there may be differences of 3-5 kilograms. If the weight exceeds the specified parameters, we can talk about overweight or obesity. The first concept is characterized by an increase in kilograms by 10% of the ideal parameter. If the percentage is more than 10, this is already obesity.
In total, there are 4 main degrees of obesity:
Everyone who is overweight is in a tireless search for the ideal way. In the struggle for an ideal figure, everything was tried: strict diets, exhausting workouts, fasting and even dubious pills. As a rule, the result is the same for everyone: at first the weight began to fall rapidly and it seemed that a slim figure was just around the corner. However, at a certain point there came a time of stagnation, when the weight did not want to move from a dead point, driving me into melancholy and depression. The person gave up, and the extra pounds again took their usual place.
The main mistake of those losing weight is that they did not take into account the individual characteristics of the body, and also missed the reason that leads to weight gain. The main causes of obesity include:
Most men and women strive to lose weight, pursuing only an aesthetic goal. The main threat of excess weight, like alcoholism or smoking, is that it causes the development of diseases associated with the heart and blood vessels. If you look at WHO research, you will notice a disappointing trend: every year 17 million deaths (29% of the total) are associated with cardiovascular diseases.
Today Ukraine is the leader in this sad race. For several years in a row, our country has been ranked first in Europe in terms of CVD. Only in the period 2011-2012, 440,000 people died from heart and vascular diseases in Ukraine.
These shocking numbers could be significantly lower if the problem of overweight and obesity were not so acute.

It's not a big revelation that being obese or being over your ideal weight can cause you many health problems. And one of them, of course, is gout. Weight loss alone can reduce blood uric acid levels as well as the number of gout attacks, preventing hyperuricemia. Therefore, it is no big deal that if you are overweight and have gout, you will immediately think about losing weight in any way that you like. In addition, losing weight will also help reduce pressure on your joints (knees, legs, hips, ankles, etc.). Gout and weight loss - reducing the stress of being overweight by avoiding pain in these joints. Drugs for exacerbation of gout.
If you are determined to lose weight, it is important that you avoid crash diets at all costs. Because rapid weight loss as well as fasting for long periods of time will increase the level of uric acid in your body and trigger a gout attack. A balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, with low meat consumption. As well as plenty of whole wheat bread, whole wheat cereal, moderate amounts of dairy products, plenty of water, small amounts of alcohol. And completely eliminating highly processed foods and drinks is the key to a successful gout diet. This will help you control your weight and provide you with all the essential nutrients you need to fight this disease. Olive oil for gout.
Renowned gout specialist Hyun K. Choi of Massachusetts General Hospital, studying 47,150 middle-aged men for 12 years, concluded that the more overweight the men were, the more susceptible they were to a gout attack or development of the disease. Those who lost weight though reduced their risk of gout, especially by losing more than 4.5 kg, reducing their risk by 40%. Choi also concluded that regardless of their diet, men who gained weight were more likely to get gout. Overweight men with a BMI (body mass index) of at least 25 are more than twice as likely to develop gout. And obese men are at three times the risk of developing it.
Another study conducted at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Also indicates that gout patients who are obese may benefit from bariatric surgery. This will reduce the crystallization of uric acid in the joints, which will further prevent gout attacks, and reduce inflammation from weight loss. Kidney stones due to gout.
Losing weight allows the uric acid in fat deposits within the body to be released or released in a consistent manner. If you have an attack of gout or swelling in any of the joints, this will help reduce these effects due to the fact that there will be less fat deposits in the joints, knees, fingers, legs, etc. If you are planning to lose weight, make sure that you lose 0.5 - 1 kg per week and no more. Avoid increasing your uric acid levels causing a painful gout attack. So tread carefully and do it right.
If you don't have gout, be sure to maintain a healthy weight to avoid it. Weight loss isn't the only answer when it comes to treating your gout. But it's a big piece of the overall pie, that's for sure. Remember to start with small changes at the beginning. Making sure you only lose 0.5 - 1 kg per week to avoid a gout attack. And then continue to progress in eliminating any foods to make healthier choices, ultimately getting to your ideal weight. Remember to include your doctor's advice when planning your diet, even consulting a nutritionist can work wonders. For gout and weight loss, see above. Is it possible to use salt for gout?
In recent years, the number of obese people in Russia has doubled! This is with a diagnosis! And those who are close to this condition (who have a body mass index (BMI) greater than 25) apparently no one can accurately count. Weight gain rates are especially high among residents of megacities, where office workers eat fast food products with a sedentary lifestyle. This is the main factor in weight gain, since, according to medicine, 80% of our weight is determined by nutrition.
It is sad that these office workers are young people whose health, due to excess weight, is beginning to deteriorate catastrophically, bringing them closer in all respects to the elderly. The musculoskeletal system suffers, the functioning of the immune system is disrupted, and the condition of the gastrointestinal tract worsens. And the saddest thing is that excess weight is a direct path towards diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and many other serious diseases.
Firstly, you should be aware of the fact that the body of obese people contains less water. Fat contains 30 percent water, which is about three times less than muscle. Consequently, obese people are more susceptible to dehydration, and even a slight water deficit leads to a faster slowdown of metabolism, and, as a result, disruption of the functioning of organs and all systems.
Therefore, for obese people, maintaining water balance in the body is of particular importance when choosing any weight loss program. Some people who especially want to quickly lose weight often come up with the idea (to be honest, not the best) of taking diuretic medications in order to relieve swelling (and they often occur in people with increased weight) or simply for the purpose of quickly losing weight.
But it should be kept in mind that the most common cause of edema is excessive salt consumption. Therefore, you should throw away the salt shaker and do not salt ANYTHING. Diuretics remove water, which is already in short supply in the body of fat people. The fact that at the same time the tone of the skin decreases and it quickly sags is just “flowers”! “Berries” can be so varied in the abundance of ailments caused by dehydration that it is better not to conduct such experiments.
In this regard, it is better to take mineral water with a sufficient content of bicarbonates and sulfates in combination with some fresh water, preferably active. At the same time, the body will receive the water so necessary to restore metabolic processes, excess salt will be eliminated, and the diuretic effect will help cleanse the urinary tract and kidneys, which are a “particular risk area” in people with increased weight.
Therefore, when choosing a comfortable diet for yourself, do not forget about the timely intake of mineral and drinking waters, combining them correctly.
Trick your appetite. The best way to do this is again water. After all, our body’s signals about hunger and thirst are little distinguishable. And when a signal about dehydration is sent to us, we perceive it as a lack of energy, which we associate with a deficiency of nutrients and eat something, further dehydrating the body and forgetting that the water in our body produces pure energy.
Remember that strict diets disrupt metabolism! Weight loss should not be sudden, no more than 5-6 kg per month. Any diet doesn't have to be painful, just eat less of everything.
Monitor the amount of food you eat and its calorie content! The serving should be no more than 400 g. A larger amount burdens the body and does not allow food to be absorbed normally.
Pay attention to whether you are experiencing false hunger. Unlike real hunger (when it doesn’t matter what to eat - porridge or cake), it wakes up when we just want to rest, take a break, snacking not on porridge, of course, but on something tasty and sweet. False hunger is one of the main enemies of a good figure
Pay attention to whether you are getting enough sleep. A chronically sleep-deprived person accumulates fat.
Move more, play sports. Often people gain weight not because they eat a lot, but because they move little. Remember that excessive physical activity, if you are not very familiar with physical education, should be dosed. To begin with, include walks and exercise in your daily routine for at least 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week. It's good to walk 10,000 steps a day.
And, of course, if your weight increases inexplicably, contact your endocrinologist. This can be an indicator of a variety of endocrine diseases, and this is another topic for discussion.
Hello, my dear readers! Have you noticed how actively the desire to lose weight is fueled both by advertisers who are not averse to making money on it, and by the media, which seem to advocate exclusively for the health of the nation? You can hear everywhere that being overweight is a serious danger.
But are extra pounds really a threat to your health? What are the dangers of being overweight? What diseases does it cause? And how can you reduce the risk?
Let's discuss these important issues.
I won’t be verbose, I’ll just clarify that this list is incomplete. It includes only the most common and (or) dangerous diseases.
Being overweight increases your risk of the following diseases:
Quite a scary list, isn't it?
In some sources you can see information that excess weight is one of the causes of frequent infectious diseases. However, I “study” a lot of literature and programs on this topic and I can say that official medicine does not in any way connect extra pounds and susceptibility to infections. For example, you can read an excellent medical website: symptoms of meningitis for an adult, the nature of this dangerous infectious disease, its causes - and there is not a word about excess weight.
When talking about the dangers of excess weight, one cannot fail to mention the type of obesity. The most dangerous thing is central obesity, when a person has a tummy.
If a person does not have visceral fat, i.e. “fat” inside, then the risk factors for the listed diseases do not concern it.
An example of such people is Japanese sumo wrestlers. The percentage of fat in their body is huge, but there is no visceral fat at all. Those. their weight of 120-150 kilograms is not at all dangerous, no matter how strange it may sound.
Many people think that fat is just extra weight, ordinary lard. But in reality, fat is an organ. It produces a lot of hormones. For example, in women after menopause, fat produces the female sex hormone estrogen.
Surely the so-called “obesity paradox” is associated with the ability of fat to produce hormones and other substances.
Of course, the risk of all of the above diseases is increased in overweight people. But if an overweight person is already sick, he often lives longer and suffers fewer complications than a thin person with the same disease.
Those. the comic popular observation “while the fat man dries, the thin man dies” is actually not without foundation.
Even if you know everything about losing weight, take the time to carefully read the list below - something in it may surprise you.
Risk factors for obesity:
By the way, doctors say that heredity can justify only a small amount of extra pounds - literally 5-10. The rest is often the result of an incorrect lifestyle.
How can you determine if you are overweight?
The BMI index is considered the most accurate for medical purposes all over the world (read the link on how to calculate BMI).
If a person has less than 25, then there is no risk to health.
If from 25 to 30, then the risk is increased, 30-40 is high, and 35-40 is very high, and more than 40 is life-threatening.
Of course, it's better to lose weight. But it’s worth setting realistic goals - don’t try to lose 20 or 50 kilograms at once, lose 5-7% of your weight first. This will already have a beneficial effect on health and reduce the risk of disease.
Now you know exactly why excess weight is dangerous. Remember that many diseases can be prevented by a healthy lifestyle and, of course, control over your own weight. Be healthy! And live happily ever after!

Gout is a joint disease associated with metabolic disorders in the body. The risk group includes older people, although in recent years there has been a noticeable “rejuvenation” of the disease; it is increasingly being diagnosed in people 40-50 years old.
The pathology occurs in a chronic form, slowly progresses, is accompanied by attacks, and over time such attacks become more frequent and prolonged. Treatment comes down to eliminating the symptoms of the disease, increasing the time intervals between attacks, and preventing the development of complications.
The main reason for the development of the disease is the deposition of a purine derivative, uric acid, in various body systems due to improper metabolism. Uric acid salts initially accumulate in the joints of the lower and upper extremities and kidneys. The presence of pathologies of the excretory system also contributes to the development of the disease. Thus, the risk of its occurrence increases sharply with renal failure.
The most common diseases of the body that can provoke gout include:
The causes of the disease also include poor nutrition (with a predominance of purine-rich foods in the diet), excess weight, endocrine disorders in the body, and some pathologies of the circulatory system. Another attack of gout can be triggered by drinking alcohol or taking certain medications (antibiotics, diuretics), but most often the disease worsens without any specific reason, usually at night.
Initially, the disease affects the large joints of the lower extremities, with the toes primarily affected. Gout on the legs is a common occurrence in the life of an elderly person who abused alcohol in his youth and was negligent about his diet. The disease begins with inflammation of the big toe joint. The so-called gouty arthritis is accompanied by:
The first attack of gout is usually short-lived and, if untreated, goes away within a week. A second such attack may occur several years later, less often decades. Signs of gout such as joint deformation and tissue proliferation are observed in advanced forms of the disease. The gradual accumulation of uric acid salts in the joint causes a change in the appearance of the joint. In particularly advanced cases, gout becomes a cause of disability for the patient.
The basis of therapy is a special diet aimed at reducing purine-rich foods in the patient’s diet. Medicines prescribed during an exacerbation of gout help alleviate the patient’s condition and reduce the risk of complications. To eliminate the symptoms of arthritis, anti-inflammatory (non-steroidal) drugs (Colchicine) are indicated; for severe pain, painkillers are used.
Drugs prescribed for the treatment of gout include Uralit and Allopurinol, which help reduce the level of uric acid in the blood through its natural elimination from the body. Regular use of these medications helps to avoid exacerbations of the disease in the future.
For patients with gout during an exacerbation, mud baths and applications with Dimexide are recommended. In case of severe joint deformation, surgical intervention is performed.
Traditional medicine in this case can be used as an auxiliary therapy. This therapy usually gives very good results. Compresses made from cabbage leaves help eliminate severe joint pain. The leaves are thoroughly washed with warm water, dried and applied to the sore spot overnight, covered with a bandage or gauze. Long-term use of this remedy (daily, for a month) helps reduce the risk of an attack in the future.
Traditional medicine also recommends using rose hips, garlic, ginger, baking soda, and decoctions of medicinal herbs (chamomile, calendula, St. John's wort, string) in the treatment of gout. In this case, decoctions can be used not only as a compress on a sore spot, but also consumed as a drink.
Patients with this diagnosis should be more careful about their diet, in particular, exclude foods rich in purines from the diet, since uric acid, which is deposited in the joints and provokes their inflammation, is a derivative of these compounds. Nutrition for gout should be organized in such a way that the body does not suffer from the lack of some of its usual foods. For example, replace fatty red meat with boiled chicken breast, white bread with bran bread, etc.
The diet must be followed for a long time. Otherwise, the risk of gout attacks and progression of the disease increases.
If you have gout, you should avoid using:
There are foods whose consumption is acceptable, but not advisable. Chicken eggs, boiled lean meat, bread, mushrooms, cereals, peas, and beans are allowed in small quantities.
The daily diet includes:
There are products that reduce uric acid levels in the blood. These are primarily red and black currants, strawberries, and raspberries. Fruit drinks, decoctions of currant leaves, and dried raspberries are also recommended for consumption.
There are a lot of drugs aimed at combating gout, they all have a similar effect - they reduce the level of uric acid in a person’s blood.
Traditionally, allopurinol in tablet form is prescribed in the treatment of the disease. The product prevents the synthesis of uric acid in the body, promoting the production of the enzyme xanthine oxidase, removing existing salt deposits from it in the urine. The drug is not contraindicated in the presence of kidney disease; it is recommended for the prevention of gout in older people. Among its side effects, the greatest danger to the body is impaired liver function and increased blood sugar levels, but such effects, as a rule, do not occur if the medicine is taken correctly.
If there are significant deposits of uric acid salts in the joints, the use of the drugs Solimok, Ortofen, Indomethacin is indicated (for severe pain and inflammation of the joints).
Local medications for gout provide a good therapeutic effect, their use helps eliminate pain symptoms, reduce the inflammatory process in the diseased joint, and alleviate the general condition of the patient.
In the treatment of inflammatory joint diseases, 2% Diclofenac ointment based on the active substance - diclofenac sodium - is widely used. The product has a mild anti-inflammatory effect, quickly relieves pain, and is recommended for use during exacerbation of gout.
Fulflex ointment has a similar effect. It is worth remembering that such drugs fight the manifestations of gout, but do not in any way prevent the progression of the disease, which means they cannot be prescribed as the main treatment.
Prevention of the disease can be considered proper nutritious nutrition in youth, not abusing alcoholic beverages, especially after 40 years. Persons who have already been given a similar diagnosis must be constantly under the supervision of specialists and undergo regular examinations of the body. In half of the cases, the advanced form of the disease leads to complications from the excretory system (kidney dysfunction) and disability.
Overweight people suffer from hypertension 3-4 times more often than people with normal weight - this is an inexorable statistic. So excess weight (especially excess fat deposits in the abdominal area) is one of the most important risk factors for hypertension.
Do you remember how excess weight is associated with increased blood pressure? To provide blood for its “expanded” economy, the heart is forced to take on an increased load. The power of the heart pump increases - blood pressure increases. And all you have to do is lose five extra kilos, and systolic pressure will drop by about 5 mmHg, and diastolic pressure by 2 mm.
In addition, obese people develop atherosclerosis, diabetes and many other diseases faster. You already know that these diseases, especially atherosclerosis, further increase blood pressure. And losing weight not only reduces blood pressure, but also normalizes fat (including cholesterol) and sugar metabolism. So you need to lose weight not only and not so much for beauty, but for health.
How to determine excess weight that already needs to be lost? I recommend that women measure their waist circumference. If it exceeds 88 cm, it’s time to arrange fasting days. A more accurate guideline is given by body mass index (BMI):
Let’s say that if a person with a height of 1 m 60 cm weighs 70 kg, his BMI will be approximately equal to: 70/(1.6 x X 1.6) = 27. In this case, a normal BMI is 20-25 kg/m2, with an excess weight, BMI is more than 25, and with obesity - more than 30. That is, in our example we are already talking about excess weight, although obesity is still far away.
Now all that remains is to figure out how to lose excess weight. The simplest, most reliable, proven and safe way is to increase energy expenditure (that is, move more) and at the same time reduce the amount of energy received (that is, reduce the caloric content of the diet - limit sweet, fatty and starchy foods). All other methods, except liposuction (plastic surgery), are not only ineffective, but often harmful to health. In my deep conviction, buying pills that “burn” fat or pants that “melt” it is the same as throwing money down the drain.
You need to get rid of excess weight gradually. The most optimal pace is to lose weight by about half a kilogram per week. To do this, you need to “eat” 500 fewer calories per day or “burn” 500 more calories per day. It’s best when you lose about 10% of your initial weight in six months—this result is the most sustainable. That is, you will not gain your “extra” kilograms again in a month, as often happens with sudden and rapid weight loss.
I would also like to add that fasting is not recommended for patients with hypertension. As a result, a deficiency of essential bioactive substances (for example, vitamins and minerals) is formed, which has an extremely negative effect on the condition of the heart and metabolism in general. But a healthy diet with fasting days is welcome.
For stable weight loss and general cleansing of the body, it is enough to carry out at least one fasting day every 7-10 days. You can choose according to your taste:
meat fasting days (per day 300 g of boiled lean meat without salt with a side dish of cabbage and other vegetables, as well as 3 glasses of unsweetened drink); ■ potato fasting days (approximately 700 g of jacket potatoes per day, boiled in their skins and without salt, as well as 3-4 glasses of unsweetened drink) On apple fasting days (per day 1.5 kg of apples and 2-3 glasses of unsweetened drink drinking); on cottage cheese fasting days (500 g of low-fat cottage cheese and 3 glasses of unsweetened drink per day); on kefir fasting days (1.5 liters of kefir per day).
You can try different fasting diets or combine them. I like curd and kefir the most, but, however, there is no arguing about tastes. I tested it from my own experience: the effect is magnificent! But only on the condition that you spend such fasting days regularly and on all other days you do not overeat, but stick to a healthy diet.
The problem of excess weight is very relevant today. There are especially many overfed children now. It’s one thing if a child is overweight, hereditary or caused by some disease, and quite another thing when, by adolescence, the child gains excess weight due to excessive appetites.
In such cases, of course, it is necessary to take action. Diets for teenagers can be of great benefit. which must be adhered to for a long time. After all, the spread of hamburgers, chips, Snickers and Mars poses a real threat of obesity.
The basis of a healthy diet should be fruits and vegetables, dairy products, and lean meat. I can say that eating right is not that difficult. Avoid flour products, fried and fatty foods, and sweet carbonated drinks. Based on my experience, it is usually the parents who overfeed their children. And their grandmothers help them with this, because they always think that the child is too thin.
It is a pity that few people understand the severity of the problem of excess weight. After all, it can cause a disease such as hypertension. Returning to traditional medicine, I can say that the best way out of the situation is cranberry for blood pressure. This method has long been tested in practice.
To stabilize blood pressure, try squeezing juice from cranberries. You need to make it half a glass. Now add half a glass of flower honey there and then stir. You need to take this medicine 1 teaspoon 3 times a day for two weeks.
Traditional medicine offers a lot of recipes that help with hypertension. Most often these are garlic, horseradish, onions, honey, beets, and medicinal herbs. If your blood pressure rises, drink herbal infusions in whole courses for two to four weeks.
Here is a wonderful recipe to lower your lower blood pressure. You will need half a liter of natural honey and the same amount of vodka. You need to mix them, heat them over the fire, and stir until you see a solid milk film. After this, the mixture should settle. Then prepare the second composition: in one liter of water, brew a pinch of cudweed, valerian root, motherwort, chamomile and knotweed. Mix both compositions and let stand for three days in a dark place. Take a teaspoon twice a day for 1 week, and then once a day.
Thus, I believe that you can overcome excess weight with a strict diet, and the wisdom of traditional medicine will help you get rid of hypertension.
Sincerely, Domnika Danilenko.
Numerous epidemiological studies confirm the connection between excess weight and high blood pressure, but until now science has only had hypotheses explaining the mechanism of this connection.
Recent studies by German scientists have filled this gap by observing the influence of fat cells ( adipocytes ) on the cells of the adrenal cortex responsible for the production of aldosterone , a hormone that regulates mineral metabolism in the body (mainly sodium, potassium and water) and can thus increase arterial pressure.
Dramatic processes unfolded literally before the eyes of the researchers: in the presence of adipocytes and the triglycerides, fatty acids, and leptin they secreted. other factors, adrenal cortex cells dramatically - seven times! - increased aldosterone production. Although, of course, it remains to be seen which specific adipocyte secretions are directly responsible for aldosterone release, this study is given particular significance as indicating a direct link between obesity and hypertension. New experiments are coming. In the meantime, doctors recommend that those suffering from high blood pressure control their weight.
Reuters Sante reports that losing weight by 5 kg can bring significant relief from hypertension. Analysis of results published from 25 studies conducted in 1996-2003. and covering more than 5 thousand people showed that every kilogram lost results in a decrease in both upper and lower pressure. The results were summarized by a group led by Judith Neter (Wageningen University, the Netherlands). The more weight you lose, the more pronounced and noticeable the results. The effect of weight loss on reducing diastolic (lower) blood pressure was greatest in individuals who also took antihypertensive drugs.
There is a direct connection between blood pressure and our weight. In other words, if you are overweight and have high blood pressure, then you have a chance to lower your blood pressure by losing a few kilograms. In the journal Heart and Health of the French Cardiological Federation (Coeur et Sante, Federation francaise de Cardiologie), Dr. Thierry Gibault provides numerical evidence: every kilogram lost reduces systolic (upper) pressure by an average of 1.6 mm, and diastolic (lower) - by 1.3 mm. Losing 10% of weight can therefore bring significant relief from hypertension and, possibly, reduce the dose of the antihypertensive drug taken, or avoid taking it altogether (both must be agreed with the doctor, emphasizes Dr. Thierry GIBAUD). The article provides statistics that in every three out of four patients, blood pressure normalizes under the influence of diet and weight loss.
Gout, the “disease of kings,” has been known since the time of Hippocrates, who described all its main symptoms. It was the upper class that most often had joint problems due to a sedentary lifestyle, overeating meat products and alcohol abuse.
Nowadays, although the disease is considered insidious, successful treatment of gout at home gives encouraging results for many patients.
The disease is a type of arthritis and occurs as a result of a violation of purine metabolism. As a result of this dysfunction, uric acid accumulates in large quantities in the body, which is eliminated through the kidneys. Over time, it becomes more difficult for the kidneys to remove the resulting acid, and it begins to accumulate in the tissues and be deposited in the joints.
As a result of internal biochemical reactions, uric acid is converted into sodium urate salts. These tumors clog the kidneys and settle tightly in the joints. At the initial stage, this process occurs without any symptoms. But as the disease progresses, discomfort and severe pain may occur in the affected joint.
Exacerbation of gout usually occurs after eating meat, fatty and sweet foods or drinking alcoholic beverages.
Before you begin to treat gout at home, you need to understand why such disorders occur in the body. The causes that contribute to the occurrence of gout are:
Risk factors include:
The first stage of gouty arthritis has practically no distinctive signs. Certain symptoms can be seen starting from the second stage. At this point, barely noticeable discomfort and pain periodically occur in the affected joint, mainly at night. At this stage, the patient may experience:
Don't get complacent if at some point your symptoms go away without treatment. In this case, the disease has gone into remission and until the next attack it may not bother the patient. To prevent gout from becoming chronic and its destructive effects becoming a reason for surgery, the patient should visit a doctor.
The first symptoms of gouty arthritis should force the patient to seek advice from an arthrologist or rheumatologist. Specialists will conduct a diagnosis and determine at what stage the disease is. Then the appropriate treatment methods will be selected.
Diagnostic measures include an x-ray of the affected joint and a biochemical blood test, which must be taken not only for acute pain, but also during remission. Such control will allow you to obtain accurate data on the content of uric acid in the tissues of the body.
Typically, treatment for gout takes a comprehensive approach:

Effective treatment of gout at home involves various methods, one of which is taking medications. Internal use of medications can not only reduce pain in the affected joint and completely relieve inflammation, but also suppress the formation of uric acid.
For gouty arthritis, the doctor usually prescribes the following medications:
External agents also have a good effect. For pain relief and inflammation, experts recommend using ointments such as butadione, diclofenac, fullflex, etc.

Gout, treatment with folk remedies depends on the nature of the disease. Thus, treatment methods in the acute period are very different from treatment methods when gouty arthritis is in remission.
During the period of exacerbation, the patient is recommended to focus on taking medications. If the diseased joint is on the lower limb, then bed rest should be observed and the leg should be placed on a hill. Apply applications of Vishnevsky ointment or dimexide to the affected joint.
As for nutrition, it is best to follow a semi-starvation diet. It is allowed to consume liquid porridges with water, jelly and vegetable broths. To effectively remove uric acid and alkalize the body, you need to drink plenty of rice broth, lemon juice diluted with water and mineral water such as Borjomi, Slavyanskaya, Essentuki 17, etc.
The acute period usually lasts about 3 days, after which it enters the remission stage. From this point on, you can begin to treat gouty arthritis with folk remedies using thermal procedures.
Even without clear signs, gout continues its destructive effect. Therefore, we do not relax and use all available methods of treatment of traditional medicine.
Herbs are considered a powerful remedy that relieves gouty arthritis. For this purpose, freshly prepared decoctions and infusions are usually used, consisting of both one type of plant and herbal collection.
-Pharmaceutical camomile. Prepare a foot bath from the flowers of the plant (100g) and sea salt (200g). Pour the prepared ingredients into 10 liters of boiling water and let it brew. Cool the resulting solution to 38-40? C, then immerse the sore joint in it;
- Salvia officinalis. For 6 liters of water you will need 100 g of grass. Boil the mixture for about 15 minutes and let cool to 38? WITH;

The course of treatment with herbal baths is 25-30 procedures. Taking time is 30-40 minutes. As the herbal infusion cools, periodically heat the mixture to the required temperature.
An excellent way to relieve inflammation, relieve pain and prevent exacerbation of the disease are compresses and bandages made from readily available and inexpensive products.
Treatment with activated carbon. Half a glass of activated carbon and 1 tbsp. l. Grind flaxseed in a coffee grinder until it becomes powdery. Add a little water to the mixture until it becomes a paste. Coat the painful joint with the paste, cover it with polyethylene and warm woolen cloth. Keep it on all night.

Mustard. A paste of mustard powder, soda and honey has an excellent warming effect. To prepare it, you need to mix each ingredient in equal proportions. Apply the medicinal paste to the affected area, cover with film and wrap with a warm cloth. To obtain the desired effect, the compress must remain on the skin all night.
