Have you ever thought about how widely salt is used in various areas of our lives? Its use is not limited to cooking. Today it is also a useful component in cosmetology, industry and even medicine. Although the famous song says “don’t pour salt on my wound...”, at one time it was thanks to sprinkling salt on wounds that more than one life was saved. And all because of its antibacterial action. The same property is widely used for cosmetic purposes.
Many call it the white death, but contrary to this, it is worth remembering that any medicine can become poison if it is used incorrectly. If you want to get as much benefit from salt as possible, opt for sea salt or table salt, but one that has not been subject to any chemical modifications.
It is not difficult to identify it - by its slightly grayish color and medium-sized crystals. This salt is saturated with various minerals - potassium, calcium, manganese, zinc and many others. Of course, the ideal use for cosmetic purposes would be to use sea salt.
Probably everyone has noticed that after a vacation at sea, not only does a tan and a bunch of photos appear, but also the general condition of the body, and the condition of the skin and nails in particular, improves. But if you don’t have one at hand, then table salt, in principle, is only slightly inferior to it in terms of usefulness. In any case, there will be an effect.
The first advantage of salt in cosmetology is its availability and ease of preparation, no matter whether we are talking about masks, scrubs or baths. But let's talk about baths.
Some people argue that hands can tell a person's age, so you should constantly take care of them. Especially in cold weather, as well as in spring, when many are exposed to vitamin deficiency. Among other things, our hands and nails constantly suffer from everyday household activities, being exposed to the harmful effects of various dishwashing detergents, washing powders and other household chemicals. But here, too, the white helper comes to the rescue - salt.
To restore your hands and nails to their salable appearance and health, it is useful to take a 10-day course of salt baths. A deep container is suitable for this, fill it with warm water, add 1 tbsp. a spoonful of salt (any kind) and lower your hands for 15 minutes. Afterwards, dry your hands with a soft towel or napkin and apply a rich cream; olive oil is also suitable for this purpose.
When applying, a light massage will not hurt. If baths are done as a preventive measure, then the course can be repeated once a month. If you need to deal with roughness and dryness of the skin, brittle nails, it is advisable to repeat the course after 10 days. Thus, the result will be fixed.
To strengthen your nails, you can add 5-7 drops of orange or lemon essential oil, or iodine to such a bath. Vitamins A and E in ampoules, which can be purchased at the pharmacy, are perfect for the same purpose. They will not only strengthen your nails, but also make your skin softer and more tender.
The usefulness of such foot baths is undeniable. They can be used all year round. In the warm season, they will help get rid of dryness, and in the cold season they will saturate the skin with essential minerals.
This bath is very effective. It will not only help cleanse the skin of stubborn dirt and dust, but also help get rid of sweating, as well as destroy harmful microorganisms that can cause fungus to develop.
To prepare such a bath, simply wash your feet and dip them in a warm saline solution. The water should be ankle-deep; this amount of water will require 3 tsp. sea or 3-4 tbsp. table salt. The duration of this procedure is only 15 minutes.
To strengthen blood vessels, you can use a salt bath with the addition of linden blossom. In this option, the water simply needs to be replaced with linden infusion, the proportions are maintained, and the duration of taking such a bath is also about 15 minutes.
Using various essential oils you can tone, relieve fatigue, relax - it all depends on the chosen oil. For example, adding a few drops of cedar, pine or other coniferous oil helps get rid of colds. It is advisable that the infusion be very warm, but not hot. A contraindication, of course, is a high temperature in the patient.
Paraffin therapy is a cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates the skin. Its purpose is to nourish and restore the skin, mainly of the hands and feet.
To carry out the paraffin therapy procedure, special paraffin baths for hands or feet are required. In such a container, paraffin can be heated to the required temperature - from 45 to 52 degrees.
The hand paraffin therapy procedure takes place in several stages:
When deciding on such a procedure, you should not be afraid of undesirable consequences in the form of burns. It is impossible to get burned with paraffin due to its low heat transfer. Heat will have a positive effect on the skin of your hands. It will help open pores, remove toxins, and help moisturizers penetrate deep enough. Paraffin therapy also has a good effect on blood circulation and helps wounds heal. After the paraffin has cooled, the procedure is repeated, this happens 3 to 5 times per session.
Paraffin therapy for the feet is practically no different from the procedure for the hands. The only thing is that the feet require more careful care.
As noted above, to properly carry out such a procedure, you must have special paraffin baths for your hands or feet. Thanks to this container, paraffin quickly melts and is held in the required liquid state for a long time.
If the paraffin bath is fully loaded, the paraffin will melt after 1.5 hours. The maximum weight of paraffin that the bath can hold is 1.5 kg, and the minimum is 1.1 kilograms. The melting point of paraffin in the bath is from 60 to 70 degrees, and its operating temperature is approximately 55 degrees. This device can work for a long period of time without overheating or shutdowns.
As a rule, a paraffin bath includes:
In order for the paraffin bath to serve you for a long time, you must follow all the requirements for correct use.
Paraffin is a wax-like substance that is obtained by processing petroleum products.
In cosmetology, paraffin is used that is enriched with various additives: healthy oils, herbal extracts, protein, vitamins.
One of the most important properties of paraffin is that it is a very heat-intensive product. The melting point of paraffin is approximately 53 degrees.
When melted, paraffin turns into a slightly liquid, sour cream-like mass that is white in color. Since this product has low heat conductivity, it releases heat in small portions.
The temperature of the skin increases under the influence of paraffin by only one degree. Heating the skin helps capillaries function better, lymphatic drainage and microcirculation in the body increases. All glands of the skin begin to work actively. Therefore, areas of the body covered with paraffin sweat a lot, and toxins are eliminated along with sweat.
Paraffin does not allow air to pass through, so sweat does not evaporate. Water is absorbed back into the skin, and toxic substances remain outside. This promotes the distribution of water in the body, which leads to the regulation of water balance. Due to this property, paraffin is considered a good skin moisturizer. It also helps open pores, warm and soften rough skin.
Paraffin for hands, feet and face is used only when heated. It has a good effect on blood circulation, under its influence wounds heal faster and joint function improves. Paraffin perfectly smooths out fine wrinkles and removes sebaceous plugs. This is facilitated by the property of paraffin that its size decreases as it cools. It kind of stretches the skin.
Paraffin for hands is especially good to use in the winter season, when the skin suffers greatly from frost, cracks, peels and becomes chapped. That is why paraffin is used not only for beauty, but also for treatment. It helps people suffering from rheumatism, arthritis and some other diseases. Another important point is that paraffin is not absorbed into the skin. It is easy to wash off.
Paraffin, which is used in cosmetology, is divided into two types:
Paraffin therapy in beauty salons is a very common service. You may be offered several types and methods of this procedure.
The first and most common type is paraffin therapy for hands . After it is carried out, the skin on the hands becomes velvety, restored and becomes simply beautiful to look at.
The procedure has approximately the following sequence: first of all, your master must disinfect his hands.
Then, with light stroking movements, rub the cream into the skin to nourish the skin, at this time the paraffin bath should already be ready for use, all that remains is to carefully immerse the brushes there.
You must dip your hands into the molten paraffin not just once, but at least three times.
After each such dive, the master wraps your hands in special bags, puts on terry mittens for paraffin therapy on top and leaves you for twenty minutes. After this time, the mittens and bags are removed. With a damp and warm towel, the master wipes your hands from any remaining paraffin and toxins. Now she gives a light massage with nourishing cream.
The next type of paraffin therapy is paraffin therapy for feet . It is carried out in exactly the same way as for the hands. The only thing is that before disinfection, peeling is carried out to exfoliate dead skin cells, especially in the heels and feet. After the procedure, the master will give you a good relaxing foot massage using a softening cream. This procedure relieves feet from calluses and relieves fatigue.
Another type is paraffin therapy for the face . During this procedure, paraffin is applied to the facial skin with a special brush in several layers. After this, the master will wrap you in a heated towel for about half an hour. Then everything is wiped off and the skin is moisturized with a protective cream.
In some salons, paraffin therapy is performed on absolutely any part of the body.
Beauty salons offer various methods of paraffin therapy; below we have mentioned the most popular and in demand.
Due to frequent unfavorable weather conditions and other external factors, the skin of the hands is often exposed to various negative influences. To ensure that your skin is well-groomed, does not age and looks beautiful, use a procedure such as paraffin therapy. Of course, not everyone can afford to visit beauty salons or beauty salons, but don’t be upset, because such paraffin hand baths are just as easy to do yourself as a beautiful manicure at home.
To do this, you will need a small stainless steel basin, about half a kilogram of cosmetic paraffin, moisturizing or nourishing cream, plastic bags or cling film, wool or terry mittens, a towel, and, if desired, essential oil.
Ideally, paraffin hand baths should be performed twice a month, and you do not have to use accompanying cosmetic products purchased in the store; you can prepare some of them yourself from natural and healthy ingredients. Below we offer you recipes for homemade cream and scrub.
Recipe No. 1. Homemade nourishing hand cream.
In order to prepare a good hand cream, you will need:
Add all the oils to the wax melted in a water bath and leave to harden, after which the cream can be used without any restrictions.
Recipe No. 2. Homemade hand scrub.
To prepare a hand scrub you need to take:
All the above ingredients should be mixed. Before use, you need to drop some oil and water on your palm. Now you can rub the scrub into your skin.
To ensure that a cosmetic product is suitable specifically for your skin type, it is a good idea to find out which additives affect what. Thus, wheat germ oil is effective for dry skin, cocoa butter is used to soften and have a pleasant smell, buriti oil is used to enrich the skin with vitamin A, and almond oil is used to moisturize.
A paraffin therapy bath requires careful selection. Before you start choosing it, you need to decide what kind of procedure you want to perform. After all, there are various models of baths that are intended only for hands, only for feet, for rejuvenation or for treatment. It is also absolutely easy to purchase a bath that will be universal and suitable for all types of paraffin therapy.
In addition, it is worth considering the size of the paraffin bath. Small containers are ideal for home paraffin therapy, and larger baths are best purchased when you are thinking of opening your own beauty salon.
Very often, additional accessories are included with the bath: gloves, bags, socks. Sometimes even paraffin is included in the package. All paraffin baths differ in volume, color and the presence of various additional materials. Also, the baths can have different temperatures at which the paraffin will melt and to what temperature it will heat up.
A paraffin bath for hands is much smaller than the same device for feet, but this nuance is unlikely to be reflected in the price.
Baths from the Jessica-Neil company are leaders in sales. The devices of this company are equipped with thermostats that can heat paraffin to the required temperature and maintain it throughout the entire paraffin therapy procedure.
The cost of such a device is 2000 rubles. Prices in pharmacies and stores range from 1,500 to 10,000 rubles, depending on the functions of the bath.
Paraffin therapy has many positive aspects; it has a wonderful effect on the skin of the body and the body as a whole. But there are certain categories of people for whom rejuvenating paraffin therapy procedures are contraindicated due to their health conditions.
Paraffin baths should not be given to people who are allergic to paraffin and its components. It is also prohibited to apply hot paraffin to the body for people who have serious problems with blood circulation in the body. Diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, blood incoagulability, furunculosis, sycosis, psoriasis simply prohibit such cosmetic procedures. It is not recommended to perform paraffin therapy if there are wounds or inflammations on the skin. It is also contraindicated to use paraffin baths for people who have varicose veins.
People who use paraffin therapy on themselves leave only positive reviews about the effect on the skin. Dryness, irritation, peeling and even skin damage go away, brittle nails are removed, wrinkles are smoothed out and toxins are removed. Also, those who suffer from aching joints feel the positive effects of paraffin therapy.
