Each of us encounters calluses and corns at least every time we buy new shoes. After all, even comfortable shoes of the right size can chafe at first. What to do in this case? First of all, you need to try to prevent the formation of calluses. To do this, you need to select shoes very carefully; they must match the size and shape of your feet.
Corns are chronic and hard calluses that are located on the soles of the feet (here you can read how to treat foot pain with folk remedies) and along the edges, above the joints, they appear as a result of very narrow and uncomfortable shoes, as well as with small internal defects layer of shoes. These calluses are beyond the reach of even a pedicurist and cause discomfort and even pain.
To prevent calluses, you need to eat more carrots, since the vitamin A present in them regulates the formation of the stratum corneum of the epidermis. Add a little baking soda and ammonia to the water when you wash your feet.
Folk remedies for corns recommend the following:
A very simple, proven folk remedy to remove corns - vegetable oil. After washing your feet before going to bed, massage and lubricate with vegetable oil. Within a few days, the corns will begin to gradually soften and disappear, provided that you do this procedure regularly.
To remove hardened calluses, take a hot bath for 20 minutes with soap foam. The softened layer on the callus should be carefully scraped off, and the cleansed skin should be lubricated with a nourishing cream.
If you carefully monitor your feet, you can treat and stop many diseases in a timely manner.
In addition to the fact that corns indicate the presence of internal diseases, they are an unpleasant cosmetic defect. There are not many necessary medications for the treatment of corns; medicinal plants and traditional medicine are widely used for this.
Take 1-2 tablespoons of fresh ivy leaves, cut them and boil them in half a liter of water for 10 minutes. Then we strain the hot ivy leaves and put them on the rough area, after 20-30 minutes we remove the softened skin particles and lubricate the leg with sunflower oil.
Rough areas can be wiped with tomato slices or tomato puree. Tomato juice also treats foot fungus.
Cover the corn with hot pre-baked onions, or prepared gruel from green onion feathers. To protect healthy skin, we will apply a bandage. After some time, immerse your feet in hot water to carefully scrape off the softened layer. Repeat this procedure until complete healing twice a day.
Dandelion: Apply fresh dandelion juice to calluses daily until they disappear.
In folk medicine, juice from celandine branches is an effective remedy for the treatment of warts, calluses and age spots.
Before going to bed, steam your foot; you can tie a lemon peel and pulp to the callus. Repeat the procedure for 2-3 days, then steam your foot again and carefully remove the callus (here you can read about folk remedies for calluses).
And finally, a very simple recipe for treating corns with folk remedies is to take foot baths every evening, after which you can apply a crumb of bread to the callus, after soaking it in vinegar. We secure the crumb with a bandage overnight.

Cough is a completely natural symptom for many diseases of the body. You always need to deal with unpleasant manifestations. Therapy should be based on medications aimed at eliminating the root cause of cough.
In addition, it would not be superfluous to use antisymptomatic agents. Let's talk about them in more detail today. What to drink for dry cough? Which drugs are most effective? What is the principle of their operation? Read about this and more in the article below.
A dry cough does not produce sputum!
Coughing in any of its manifestations is a reflex reaction of the body aimed at cleansing the respiratory system of foreign bodies. As a rule, ordinary mucus acts as a third-party object.
When the respiratory tract is damaged or other damage to the body occurs, it begins to accumulate in the respiratory tract and provoke a cough. As a result, an unpleasant symptom appears.
A dry cough, in turn, is usually not associated with excessive mucus secretion. This manifestation occurs due to irritation of receptors in the respiratory tract. A similar cough is called dry precisely because when it intensifies, there is no secretion or even slight expectoration of sputum.
The reason for such a specific reflex can be:
As noted earlier, a dry cough is not accompanied by sputum production. Besides this, it is also notable:
To effectively get rid of a dry cough, it is necessary to identify the root cause of its development. Combating it and timely symptom relief is the key to successful therapy. Today we’ll talk specifically about eliminating the manifestation itself. Read about the fight against its possible causes in other articles on our portal.
It is better to give cough medicines to children in the form of syrup.
The pharmaceutical market offers a huge number of products aimed at eliminating dry cough in young children.
Children's antitussive medications must be supplemented with medications that will help eliminate the root cause of the pathological condition. Otherwise, organized therapy will be either less effective or completely useless.
As practice shows, reviews from parents and pediatricians, the following drugs are the best for dry cough in children:
When choosing any drug for their child, parents should consult either a pharmacist from a pharmacy or a pediatrician. Such an approach, along with a detailed study of the instructions supplied with the drugs, will help organize the most effective and rapid therapy.
If you have a dry cough, you need to take antitussive medications.
The tactics for getting rid of dry cough in adults are completely similar to those described for children. The main thing for successful therapy is to influence not only the unpleasant manifestation, but also its root cause. The difference lies only in the types and strength of the medications used.
There are quite a lot of different pharmacological agents. The three most effective drugs for dry cough for adults look like this:
Before taking any drug, you should carefully study the instructions attached to it and unquestioningly adhere to its provisions during therapy. With a different approach, the effectiveness of organized therapy is called into question.
Any medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding must be approved by a doctor!
A separate group of antitussive drugs should be allocated for pregnant and lactating women. Due to their unusual position, medications must be selected in such a way as not to harm the mother or the child.
When organizing treatment for any disease, pregnant and lactating women are simply obliged to consult a professional doctor.
Research shows that the following drugs for dry cough are the safest during pregnancy and lactation:
Despite the general safety of the indicated products, it is not advisable for pregnant and nursing mothers to ignore visiting a doctor before using them. In the early stages of illnesses, it is better to completely avoid taking more or less strong drugs, giving preference to sprays or inhalations.
Inhalations will help a dry cough turn into a wet one
Traditional medicine techniques can be used as an aid to the main course of medication. For dry coughs, they perfectly complement the effect of specialized drugs and speed up the course of therapy.
Folk remedies cannot serve as the basis for treatment. The exception is when the patient has a mild or incipient cough. Under other circumstances, the effect of taking homemade medicines will not be enough.
The best folk remedies for dry cough are rightfully considered:
It is not necessary to consult a doctor before using traditional medicine methods. The main thing is to use homemade medicines wisely and to rule out allergies to the components of such medicines in the patient. If there is no effect from the methods used, it is better to stop self-medication and seek help from a professional.
It is prohibited to take expectorants for a dry cough!
There are no specific medications prohibited for dry cough. However, it is important to understand that even conventional cough suppressants can cause harm to anyone if used incorrectly.
From this follows the basic principle of treating dry cough: you should not take untested drugs without carefully studying their instructions. Better yet, just consult a doctor.
In addition to a competent approach in terms of choosing medications, it is advisable to:
More folk recipes for dry cough can be found in the video:
As noted earlier, if the genesis of a dry cough is not serious, self-medication is acceptable. In any case, such an approach to therapy always carries risks, so it is undesirable to abuse its use. You should be especially wary if:
The presence of at least one of the noted factors is a good reason for refusing to self-medicate dry cough. Do not forget that a person has only one health and it is undesirable to risk it even with a seemingly ordinary cough reflex.
Perhaps, this is where the most important provisions on the topic of today’s article have come to an end. We hope that the material presented was useful to you and provided answers to your questions. Good health to you and successful treatment of all diseases!

It is difficult to meet a person who has not encountered such a problem as calluses. The most common type of callus is a water callus or wet callus. Outwardly, it looks like a bubble filled with liquid. Wet calluses are very painful and cause sharp pain when touched.
The reasons for the appearance of wet calluses are no secret to anyone: they are formed as a result of prolonged friction or pressure on an area of the skin. Most often, they form in women and girls in the summer and spring, when they purchase new shoes, guided by fashion trends rather than convenience. Water calluses also occur on men’s feet. This is due to wearing uncomfortable shoes and excessive sweating of the feet.
A wet callus can also form on the finger, for example, when working for a long time with any tool or device. Despite the fact that this is an extremely common problem, not everyone knows how to get rid of it. Some do something that is strictly not recommended: they puncture the bladder and tear off the burst skin. As a result, the skin may become inflamed, which will only make the problem worse.
It is important to eliminate the cause of the tumor. Therefore, it is necessary to give up the shoes that rubbed your feet for a while. If you continue to rub the inflamed area of your legs, you will not be able to get rid of the problem. From friction, the water callus can burst and become inflamed. Some people pierce the bladder, mistakenly believing that this will speed up the healing process. In this case, treatment of calluses on the feet requires more time. It is not recommended to puncture the bladder because it increases the risk of wound infection.
It is possible to pierce a bladder on the legs in very rare cases if it reaches a large size and is fraught with rupture. But even in this case, it is necessary to adhere to certain rules to prevent infection. So, first you need to disinfect the skin area with iodine or brilliant green. Then sterilize the needle. To do this, you need to heat it over a fire or keep it in alcohol. And only after these preparations can the bladder be pierced. But what you should not do under any circumstances is tear off the burst skin.
Such large formations that require piercing appear extremely rarely. Basically, calluses appear, the treatment of which does not require such intervention, and you can get rid of them in less radical ways.
The most effective way to treat wet calluses is the Compeed patch for wet calluses. It reduces pressure on the rubbed area of skin and prevents friction. The Compeed patch protects the wound from infection and promotes its speedy healing.
The Compeed patch is very easy to use: apply it to the wound before putting on your shoes and leave it on until it starts to come off around the edges. Before removing the patch, wet it with warm water. It is best to do a foot bath. Typically, treatment of leg formations takes no more than two to three days, provided that they are protected from friction.
There is no need to pierce the tumor. But what if it bursts on its own? In this case, it is important to prevent infection from entering the wound. To do this, you need to treat it with an antiseptic, cauterize it with iodine or brilliant green. A Compeed patch can be placed over the wound to protect it from infection and speed up healing. You need to use it until the crust falls off.
You can get rid of the growth yourself. If the wound becomes infected, drug treatment may be required. The main symptoms of infection include pain, redness beyond the rubbed area, pus draining from the wound, and fever.
You can get rid of wet calluses using folk remedies:
The best prevention is wearing comfortable shoes. Before putting on new shoes, you can protect sensitive areas of the skin with Compeed patch. The appearance of wet calluses is often associated with excessive sweating. Therefore, it is recommended to wear socks made from natural materials. To reduce the moisture in your feet, you can use special powders.
Don't forget about proper foot care. To prevent formations on your toe, you should get pedicures regularly. To reduce friction, the skin between your fingers can be lubricated with regular hygienic lipstick. Compeed patch can be applied to the most problematic areas. To prevent the formation of wet calluses on your fingers, you must wear protective gloves. Following simple rules will allow you to quickly get rid of calluses and avoid possible complications.
Mostly teenagers suffer from acne; this problem is a source of unpleasant experiences for young people about their appearance. Pregnant women or adults who have hormonal disorders have to remember the adolescence troubles again. The main question is how to choose an effective acne treatment. There are a lot of proposals on this topic - from cosmetics to antibiotics. You need to choose the right one consciously and guided by your doctor’s advice.
Acne, or acne, is a disease of the sebaceous glands of the skin. The disease is caused by the proliferation of bacteria in places where pores are clogged. As a result, inflammation occurs, redness of the skin - common acne, or comedones - blackheads.
Acne is not so easy to cure; the disease often recurs and lasts for several years. If the disease drags on for a long time and manifests itself in adulthood, the reasons must be sought in the work of the reproductive and endocrine glands, in the action of provoking factors. Only a specialist endocrinologist can figure this out, who will prescribe one or more tests during diagnosis. And keep in mind that the tests must be carried out in a licensed laboratory: only in this case can you be sure of their accuracy.
We have identified only the main drugs, some of which may be included in other, more complex, acne remedies. So, the components of a simple remedy, mash - zinc and sulfur in an alcohol solution; salicylic acid often becomes a component of cosmetics for acne-prone skin; Antibiotics are included in some medicinal ointments.
Drugs that fight acne and other forms of pimples have a unidirectional effect. Everything else is nuances depending on the composition.
So, for the most part, acne remedies:
The negative consequences of using anti-acne medications are also usually the same: excessive dry skin, redness, burning, itching, and allergic reactions may occur. The more effective the product, the more “harsh” it usually affects the skin and the more seriously it requires you to approach the choice of softening and moisturizing creams and gels.
Effective anti-acne products:
A popular acne remedy that has been on the market for a long time. More precisely, a line of products that includes three series: for the prevention of acne, for daily care of problem skin, and night. These lines contain gel and scrub for washing, lotion, cream. There is also a series for quick action on acne, the effect of which should appear after 12 hours.
The main active component of Clearasil products is salicylic acid, which has an antimicrobial effect. The drying effect of salicylic acid is softened by glycerin, allantoin, and aloe extract, which improve the regeneration of skin cells and relieve inflammation.
The manufacturer does not deny that during the first time of using Clearasil, the skin condition may worsen, which is caused by the renewal of the surface layer and goes away after three days. In this case, you do not need to stop using the funds. If there is severe redness, itching, or inflammation, you should rather think about an allergy to salicylic acid. These products are also unlikely to be suitable for sensitive skin.
Clearasil products are inexpensive - around 100–350 rubles for different products.
This acne range includes a variety of products. The basic set includes a scrub, toner and cream. The main action of Proactiv is aimed at preventing acne, as well as controlling changes in the skin.
According to research, this product helps in 60% of cases, and lasting results last for two weeks after use. For some users of the series, visible results occur within 2–4 months.
Proactiv products contain benzoyl peroxide, which destroys acne bacteria, and sulfur, which reduces the formation of comedones and has an exfoliating effect. The products are non-aggressive in their effect on the skin due to the content of several softening and moisturizing components: for example, panthenol, chamomile extract, aloe. Consumers experience irritation and itching more often after Proactiv tonic, and to a lesser extent from other drugs in the series.
You can only buy this acne remedy through the official Proactiv website in Russia or the USA. The price of the basic set is 3,000 rubles, additional funds cost around 400–900 rubles.
The product has restrictions during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and under 12 years of age.
From cosmetic antiseptics for the care of problem skin, let's move on to stronger-acting drugs - medicinal ones.
Perhaps the most famous external antibiotic for acne-prone skin. The Zinerit lotion is based on the antibiotic erythromycin, which blocks protein synthesis in bacterial cells and stops their reproduction. Another component is zinc acetate, which has a drying, anti-inflammatory, astringent, and antiseptic effect.
For many, “Zinerit” has become the best remedy for acne, helping to forget about the problem during use. The first result from using the lotion is noticeable after two weeks, clearing the skin of acne occurs after 10–12 weeks. At the same time, “Zinerit” is one of the most addictive skin medications, so it is recommended to alternate it with other products or use it only once a day.
The price of “Zinerit” is 200–400 rubles, it is sold in pharmacies without a doctor’s prescription.
Not an antibiotic, it is available in the form of a gel, which penetrates more deeply into the skin, and creams. Skinoren is based on azelaic acid, it prevents the growth of bacteria and the spread of infection throughout the skin, and reduces fat content in the areas of the sebaceous glands. The drug treats, in addition to acne, scars, blemishes, hyperpigmentation.
The effect of using Skinoren is observed after four weeks, and stable results from the drug are promised in about six months.
It is better to use the drug on the recommendation of a doctor. It can be applied pointwise to the affected areas of the skin, avoiding the area around the mouth and eyes.
Azelaic acid is considered a substance of very low toxicity, so its external use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not prohibited.
The side effects of this anti-acne product - skin inflammation, flaking, itching - in most cases are mild and disappear quickly. Allergic reactions are possible.
According to some reviews, Skinoren is effective for mild forms of acne, or in the final stages of treatment. The price of gel and cream ranges from 400 to 800 rubles.
A drug effective in the fight against moderate and severe forms of acne. Available in the form of a gel containing 2.5; 5; 10% benzoyl peroxide. Treatment begins with a small dosage, and then switches to a gel with a higher concentration.
Helps with acne, comedones, trophic ulcers. In addition to the antibacterial effect, it saturates tissues with oxygen. The effect of using Baziron AS is visible after a month, and lasting improvement occurs after several months (usually three). Anti-acne products based on benzoyl peroxide are not addictive, but in some cases there is a weakening of the effect with prolonged use.
The medicine should not be used by children under 12 years of age; caution should be exercised during pregnancy and lactation.
In addition to the effectiveness of Baziron AS, consumers also note a side effect - the product dries out the skin greatly. The drug is often used in combination with skin softening agents, for example, Metrogyl gel, moisturizing (non-greasy) creams.
"Baziron AS" can be bought in pharmacies. A 10% gel costs 500–700 rubles, a 5% gel costs 650–800 rubles.
An effective, but rather dangerous remedy for acne. Taken orally in the form of capsules of 10 or 20 mg. The active substance is isotretionine (synthesized from vitamin A) in combination with soybean oil and beeswax. This medicine suppresses the sebaceous glands and is anti-inflammatory. But it is prescribed only in cases where the patient suffers from severe forms of acne and all other remedies have not had the desired effect. When prescribing Roaccutane (and it is only available with a doctor’s prescription), the doctor proceeds from the ratio of the effectiveness of this drug and the risk to the health of a particular person from its use.
Vitamin A is good for the skin, has a healing and restorative effect on the integumentary tissue, but its use for a long time and in large doses can lead to the opposite effect. There are many side effects of Roaccutane - it can negatively affect different systems of the body: cause depression, weaken vision and hearing, lead to inflammation of the digestive organs, muscle pain, and can dry out the skin, including mucous membranes. During treatment, the doctor carefully monitors the condition of the patient’s body.
"Roaccutane" is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, liver dysfunction, treatment with tetracyclines, and under the age of 12 years.
It should be noted that after completing the course of treatment, problems may return. In this case, it is necessary to carry out maintenance therapy, which usually leads to recovery.
The price of a package of Roaccutane with capsules 10 mg is 1400–1650 rubles, 20 mg is 2400–3000 rubles.
The usual practice is to go by trial and error. Only some people manage to easily solve the problem by buying the first product they come across after watching a commercial. As a rule, various jars are piled up on the shelf in the bathroom, and the condition of the skin does not improve. The worst option is to try to get a miracle remedy recommended by friends without a prescription. You are seriously risking your health. Therefore, it is best to consult an endocrinologist and undergo several tests, which will cost no more than new useless tubes. Online labs offer reasonable prices for tests, and you can save a lot of time and money if you go the right way. The INVITRO network has proven itself best, which conveniently locates its laboratories throughout Moscow and provides the most modern and accurate diagnostic methods
Folk remedies for cough can be given to children only after consultation with the attending physician. An incorrectly selected folk remedy for cough can be harmful to children. Effective folk remedies for cough are presented on this page. However, before starting alternative treatment for cough in children, you need to make sure that there is no serious infection or allergies.
Traditional cough recipes for children can help if you create a favorable environment in the room where the sick child is. Try to keep the air in the house dry, especially in the winter. Dry clothes on radiators, start an aquarium, humidify the air with a spray bottle, turn on a humidifier. In a house where the air is sufficiently humidified, coughing is rarely heard.
If a child develops a cough, traditional methods allow you to take quick response measures, such as hot foot baths. As soon as the child gets cold or starts coughing, start giving him foot baths with mustard added. Pour hot water into a basin, add mustard and steam your baby’s feet for 15 minutes, periodically adding hot water. Put on his woolen socks, smear the heels with Star balm, and go straight to bed. If your child already has a high body temperature, you should not warm your feet.
There are various folk methods of treating cough, among which the “Sea Recipe” stands out as particularly effective. Dissolve regular sea salt without aromatic additives (1 kg) in a large saucepan. The water should be warm enough. Place toys in the pan and let the baby play with them for 30 minutes. If the sea salt solution gets into your eyes, rinse them immediately with warm running water.
Vapors of sea salt inhaled by the baby will help get rid of cough and strengthen his immune system.
The resulting salt solution can be used repeatedly, adding water periodically. The duration of the cycle is three weeks. After the “sea inhalation”, take a shower, and then you need to go to bed. In order to increase the child’s immunity, such courses can be conducted every two to three months. This procedure can also be done when the baby’s temperature is low, since the water is not hot.
Potato vapor inhalation. You can inhale the vapors of potatoes boiled in their jackets. Place a pot of hot potatoes on the floor, cover yourself with a blanket and breathe actively. You can play “house” with your baby if he is still small enough to tolerate such a procedure.
After inhalation, the baby should be immediately changed into dry underwear. You should also drink plenty of fluids after the procedure.
All warming procedures - inhalation over hot steam, rubbing, warming, hot foot bath - are contraindicated if the child has even a slight increase in body temperature.
Traditional medicine recommends treating cough in children with minimal risk of negative effects on the child’s body.
Potato cakes. When a child starts to have a cough, you can make potato cakes: boil the potatoes in their skins, mash them with a fork, add 1 tablespoon of dry mustard powder, vegetable oil and regular vinegar (or vodka). Mix everything thoroughly. Divide the resulting mass into two parts and make two cakes. Place one on the baby's chest, the other on the back, placing 2-3 layers of gauze under them. Wrap the baby in a diaper on top, then with a warm scarf and put him to bed.
You can also prepare the following flatbreads: mix 1 tablespoon each of flour, dry mustard, honey and vegetable oil. Next, follow the analogy of preparing potato cakes.
Potato warming. Boil 2 kg of potatoes in their skins. Lay a large oilcloth on the child's bed and place a sheet on top in two layers. Place the hot potatoes on the sheet and mash them with a fork right away until they cool down. Place two more layers of sheets on top of the mashed potatoes, and a four-fold cotton blanket on top. Place the child on the blanket, carefully covering him on all sides, and leave him like that for 2 hours (or all night). This procedure must be carried out for several days in a row. This is an effective method that even helps with pneumonia.
Warming up with oil (for the little ones). Apply warm butter to the baby's chest and back, then wrap the baby in a warm diaper and scarf and put him to bed under a blanket.
Radish juice with honey is suitable for treating children’s coughs using folk remedies, including whooping cough. From a thoroughly washed black radish you need to cut off the top, cut out the core - it will look like a “bowl”, fill it with honey. Top with the cut top and let sit overnight. Within a few hours you will see juice inside the radish. Give your child 1 teaspoon of radish juice three times a day on an empty stomach. If he is more than three years old, then the dose can be increased to 1 tablespoon. Honey can be replaced with sugar.
In earlier times, healers always used honey and lemon to treat colds and coughs. Here are several options for this composition:
Morning massage. In the morning, sit with your child on the edge of the bed. Place your baby tummy down on your lap so that his head rests on the soft surface of the bed and his bottom is higher than his head. Shape your palm into a boat shape and lightly tap it along the entire back. A lot of sputum accumulates during the night, after this procedure a significant amount of it will be released, and the child will breathe easier.
Evening anti-cough massage: To get rid of a cough in the evening, you should also give your child a special massage. Place the baby on his stomach, spread slightly warmed melted honey on his back, and sprinkle regular fine salt on top. Gently and carefully, touching your baby's back with your palms, massage him all over his back until all the salt has dissolved. The honey should turn white. During the massage, your hands will have difficulty coming off the baby’s back. The duration of the massage is about 5 minutes. After this, remove the honey and salt with a cotton cloth soaked in warm water. Then dry the baby's back thoroughly, wrap him up and put him to bed.
Next, folk cough expectorants are offered in the form of decoctions, syrups and drinks.
"Banana tincture." Place finely chopped ripe banana and 1 teaspoon of sugar in hot tea (or boiling water). Cover and let sit warm for 30 minutes to 2 hours. Then strain. This “banana tincture” should be taken warm, one-third of a glass three times a day after meals. The cough will go away quickly.
Oatmeal broth. Oatmeal decoction is effective for both normal cough and allergic cough. Pour one glass of oats into 1 liter of boiling water and keep on low heat for 2 hours. Then strain. Let's drink warm half a glass of honey three times a day on an empty stomach: in the morning, 30 minutes before lunch and in the evening before bed, 2 hours after dinner.
Drinking with milk. It should be remembered that if the baby’s cough is accompanied by a severe runny nose, it is better not to use milk-based formulations, because milk increases the secretion of mucus in the body.
Milk with sage. Before going to bed, give your baby a cup of milk with sage: boil a teaspoon of sage in one glass of milk for 2 minutes. Let the broth brew for 10-15 minutes, strain, add honey or sugar to taste.
"Cedar milk" A very effective remedy for cough in children is a decoction of cedar nuts in milk. Take a glass of unshelled pine nuts and pour 1 liter of milk over them. Bring the mixture to a boil and keep on low heat for 5 minutes. Let it brew in a warm place, then strain. Let the child drink this “cedar milk” a little several times a day.
Milk with honey and butter. This is a well-known remedy: put a piece of butter in hot milk and add a teaspoon of honey. Give your child a drink at night.
"Fig milk" A proven remedy for coughs in children is “fig milk.” Cook figs (one piece) in one glass of milk over low heat for 5 minutes. Then strain and give your child a drink at night.
Constipation is retention of bowel movements for more than two days or incomplete emptying of the large intestine. Normally, bowel movements occur at least once a day. However, depending on the nature of nutrition and diets, the frequency may vary.
Constipation occurs when there is no bowel movement for more than three days. Today, almost every second woman suffers from constipation. Chronic constipation is a typical disease of civilization, unknown to uncivilized peoples. Fatigue and constant stress cause disturbances in the autonomic nervous system, which controls the functioning of internal organs.
Constipation is, in fact, the end result of poor nutrition, expressed in the consumption of refined foods that are too rich in proteins. Cellulose, which is an important ballast substance for the intestines, has been removed from flour products. Other reasons include: insufficient abdominal activity, lack of fluid, frequent suppression of the natural need for bowel movements, habit of laxatives that have no longer worked, poor functioning of the gallbladder, diseases of the rectum and hemorrhoids.
There are acute and chronic forms of constipation.
The main complaint is stool retention for three days or more. In addition, tingling pain that does not have a clear localization, lack of urge to defecate or unsuccessful attempts to defecate, and bloating may be disturbing.
Common symptoms include headaches, general malaise, weakness, nausea, heartburn, poor appetite and sleep.
To clarify the diagnosis, identify the causes, and, therefore, select the correct treatment regimen, a number of tests are performed. Laboratory tests include general blood and urine analysis, biochemical analysis, and stool examination.
