Nail fungus can be treated not only with specific medications, but also with folk remedies. True, it is worth knowing that you can experiment with traditional treatment for fungal toenail disease only if its spread has just begun, the disease was detected at the first stage, and primary signs are noted. In general, doctors recommend treating toenail fungus under the supervision of specialists and specially developed drugs.
It is an alcohol solution of iodine that is the most popular treatment for toenail fungus at home, and this fact is quite possible to explain! The fact is that this drug is an antiseptic that has powerful fungicidal properties. Iodine provokes protein folding, and scientific research has precisely proven that the fungus has a protein structure.
Before you start treating toenail fungus with an alcohol solution of iodine, you need to familiarize yourself with some of the features of its use:
There are 5 ways to treat toenail fungus using an alcohol solution of iodine:
In general, treatment of nail fungus with an alcohol solution of iodine can last no more than 60 days in a row. If no positive changes are noted in the appearance of your toenails, then you need to seek professional help.
Please note: when treating toenails with iodine, you should never use the same tools for diseased nails and healthy ones. The risk of fungus spreading throughout all toenails is very high.
If you place kombucha in a sweet solution of water, then in a week a pleasant-tasting drink will be ready. It also has healing properties, including the ability to destroy pathogenic bacteria or, at a minimum, stop their growth. Therefore, traditional healers quite often recommend kombucha as a remedy for toenail fungus.
You can use this tool in two ways:
Please note: if you decide to resort to kombucha compresses, then in the morning do not forget to remove the loose areas of the nail and treat them with brilliant green. And remember - the treatment of toenail fungus with kombucha is considered extremely doubtful by official medicine - no one will definitely receive recommendations in this direction from specialists.
Copper sulfate is often recommended by healers to be used simultaneously with medications prescribed by a doctor. Using the tool in question, you can carry out the following procedures:
Birch tar has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Therefore, it can be used to treat toenail fungus. Birch tar is sold in pharmacies - you don’t need to put any effort into “extracting” it.
Natural birch tar should be applied to the skin of the feet and nails. First you need to steam your feet - make a bath with soap for this (15 minutes is enough for the procedure). Before applying natural birch tar, do not forget to remove any fungus-affected skin and clean loose nails.
Natural birch tar is applied to well-dried feet and nails using a cotton swab. Then you need to not walk anywhere for an hour and a half and not wear anything - the applied product should be completely absorbed with open access to air. After the specified time has passed, thin socks are put on the feet, and only after 2-3 days the feet can be washed and the described treatment procedure can be repeated again.
Many traditional healers recommend using ointments based on birch tar:
It is very convenient to use not ointments, but a specific mash - it is prepared from 50 ml of birch tar, 50 ml of medical glycerin and 70 ml of alcohol. Apply a similar product to fungus-affected nails several times a day.
Tar soap has also proven itself well in the treatment of nail fungus - it contains up to 10% of natural birch tar. How to use tar soap:
It is unlikely that salt can be called a medicinal remedy - even traditional healers recommend using this remedy as an auxiliary when treating nail fungus with medications.
How to use salt in the treatment of nail fungus:
Please note: during this procedure, a person will experience severe itching and burning, and may even experience pain. This is all considered a normal reaction to the application of a tampon.
Please note that vinegar in a concentration of more than 9% cannot be used to treat nail fungus. And think about the fact that using this product can cause burns, and during the procedures you will have to experience pain and burning - it may be advisable to switch your attention to medications.
Nevertheless, vinegar in folk medicine is considered a very effective remedy for getting rid of fungal infections of the nail plates. How to use the tool in question:
In general, celandine is a poisonous plant, but if it is used correctly, you can quickly get rid of fungal infection of the toenails, even in advanced cases.
Firstly, you can use ready-made celandine oil - this product is sold in pharmacies. You should steam your feet, remove the affected, softened areas of the nails using scissors or a nail file, wipe the surface of the plate dry and only then treat the nail with celandine oil. A similar procedure should be carried out every evening until complete recovery - when a healthy nail grows.
Secondly, you can prepare a mixture of 200 ml of celandine juice (twist the green mass of the plant in a meat grinder and squeeze it through 3-4 layers of gauze) and 200 ml of alcohol, it must be infused for 24 hours. Then the resulting product is lubricated on the affected areas of the nails after they have been steamed and cleaned.
In addition to these methods of folk treatment for toenail fungus, healers suggest using hydrogen peroxide, garlic, lemon and onion - all of these remedies will certainly cause burns, and procedures using them are accompanied by severe pain and burning. Is it worth torturing yourself like this if there are a lot of medications on the pharmacological market specifically designed to treat nail fungus?

Treatment of mycosis of the nail plates, which is colloquially known as nail fungus, is a difficult process that requires a lot of time and effort.
Therefore, along with the treatment of mycosis with medications (ointments, sprays, creams, tablets, etc.), centuries-old practice has developed a wealth of experience in treating nail fungus with folk remedies, which also remain in demand at all times.
The “army” of parasitic fungi that provoke the development of mycosis is very numerous. Therefore, the classification of such diseases depending on the causative agent is represented by a wide range of pathologies of the skin and internal organs. Fungal infections of the skin and nails are called the general term “dermatomycosis,” while fungal disease of the fingernails and toenails is referred to by the narrower term “onychomycosis.”
Onychomycosis is also classified. Firstly, depending on the nature of the changes occurring in the affected nail, i.e. Based on the symptoms, they distinguish:
And depending on the location, onychomycosis is presented in the following forms:
Despite the fact that the treatment of onychomycosis in traditional medicine is represented by a number of means, traditional methods of treating nail fungus are often called upon to help them.
Treatment of nail fungus with folk remedies is also represented by a whole arsenal of various remedies. Some of them can be found in the first aid kit, some in the refrigerator. The effectiveness of each product is a purely individual matter. For some, daily treatment of affected nails with tangerine juice will help, while others will require more radical remedies. The main thing is to find your “weapon” and not give up until the bitter end.
Often, the fungus can spread to the foot, so we advise you to read the information on how to treat foot fungus; an integrated approach will give the best result.
Iodine, which is often used for general strengthening of nails, is also effective in the treatment of mycosis. To do this, you need to lubricate your nails with a 5% alcohol solution of iodine in the morning and evening for at least 3 weeks. After just a week, the first result should appear: a slight burning sensation and pain around the nails is a sign of an approaching cure.
Along with such remedies as iodine and potassium permanganate, treatment of nail fungus with hydrogen peroxide is considered no less effective. To do this, steamed nails need to be wrapped in cotton pads soaked in hydrogen peroxide 2 times a day. This will soften the thickened, hard nails, which can then be removed.
Other medications used “off-label” include “ Pinosol ” - nasal drops containing pine, peppermint, eucalyptus and thymol oils, “ Metronidozole ”, a pulp of tablets of which is useful to apply to nails at night, as well as essential Tea tree oil is an excellent remedy for fungus.
There are also a number of healing recipes for treating nail fungus, which include regular baking soda. Here is one of them: the skin and nails need to be thoroughly steamed in a hot solution of soda (1 tablespoon per 3 liters of water), and then lubricate the fungus-affected areas with celandine essential oil.
It is also recommended to smear the fungus-affected nail areas daily with a 20% alcohol solution of propolis.
Here's another recipe: mix 10 grams of propolis with 100 ml of alcohol. After a steaming bath of potassium permanganate solution, the softened nails are thoroughly wiped, and a mixture of propolis and alcohol is “clogged” under them, and the fingers are bandaged. The product can also be applied over the affected plate. The dressing should be changed every other day. Within a week the effect should be noticeable.
We are talking about fighting nail fungus with the help of kombucha. A small piece of kombucha should be applied to the affected nail before going to bed, securing it with a bandage or adhesive plaster. This procedure must be repeated regularly, and as a result, the thickened and deformed nail will acquire its previous normal appearance.
Onion and garlic juice is an effective remedy against many infectious diseases. Mycosis is no exception:
It is also worth noting that horseradish is considered another “acute” remedy against fungus. Horseradish root must be minced or grated. Instead of fresh, you can use ready-made horseradish from the store. The paste is applied to previously steamed and trimmed nails, with a bandage on top. This compress should be left on the nails until the morning.
Popular wisdom can turn any substance into a medicine. A striking example is birch tar. It can also help treat nail fungus. To do this, you need to thoroughly rub your feet in the evening before going to bed using laundry soap and a washcloth, after steaming your feet in a hot soapy solution (15-20 minutes).
Hardened skin is removed with pumice or a special sanding file. Then you need to trim the softened nails, wipe your feet dry, not forgetting the areas between the toes, and lubricate your feet with foot cream.
After preparing your feet for the procedure, you need to smear birch tar between the toes, nails, cracks on the toes, if any, then place your feet on a newspaper or sheet of parchment paper and sit in this position for about 1.5 hours. After the procedure, you need to wipe your feet with a cotton or bandage swab, put on socks made of natural materials (preferably cotton) and leave your feet “alone” for 2 days.
After 2 days, in the morning, your feet should be washed in clean cool water with laundry soap and wiped dry. This procedure must be repeated every 7 days until all signs of the disease completely disappear.
Tar soap is also used to treat fungus: it is used to lubricate the diseased nail, which is then dipped in table salt and bandaged overnight.
Several recipes for treating nail fungus with folk remedies contain apple cider vinegar in the list of their ingredients:
Read the recipe for treating fungus with vinegar in the form of an essence, which is more common, in a separate article.
Among other methods, traditional medicine practices the treatment of nail fungus using chlorine bleach (“Belizna”, “Ace”, etc.). Use a cotton swab or swab dipped in bleach to treat the affected areas daily: chlorine, which has an aggressive effect on bacteria, will do its job.
Mycosis on the nails is also destroyed with the help of copper sulfate , a weak solution of which (1 teaspoon of sulfate per 1 liter of water) is used as medicinal baths (10-15 minutes), after which antifungal ointments are applied.
Some remedies for nail fungus are even borrowed from veterinary medicine. Thus, “ Creolin ” is a powerful antiseptic, disinfectant and antiparasitic medicine for animals, which also “participates” in the war against fungus. “Kreolin” needs to be lubricated on the affected nails every day for 2-3 months, until a healthy nail replaces the diseased one. At the same time, you should carefully ensure that the product does not get on the skin: you can seal the nail along the “edge” with a band-aid.
This is not an exhaustive list of remedies used in the treatment of nail fungus with folk remedies. Folk wisdom also draws many ideas from herbal medicine. Therefore, everyone who is susceptible to onychomycosis can choose a medicine “on their own.” You may have to change several products for this, but the main thing is not to give up, and also to carefully observe the rules of personal hygiene so as not to infect others with mycosis and not to become infected again after recovery.
Most often, the fungal pathogen affects the nail plates and skin on the feet. This problem can be treated using traditional recipes.
An advanced form of onychomycosis should be treated under the strict supervision of a dermatologist, who can determine the type of pathogen, determine the stage of the disease, and select the most optimal treatment regimen. An important step in the treatment of fungal infections is considered to be an integrated approach that will treat the disease and prevent its further progression.
During treatment, you need to be patient, because in order to cure onychomycosis, sometimes it takes more than 1 year.
Advanced nail fungus does not appear in one week or month. Usually the disease develops slowly, but if a person initially ignores the signs of the fungus, does not carry out treatment or does it incorrectly, then after a while, the disease will certainly acquire more formidable stages.
The advanced form of onychomycosis has pronounced clinical signs and manifests itself not only against the background of improper treatment, but also in cases where weak topical drugs were used during treatment or treatment was carried out only with folk remedies without the use of antifungal creams and ointments.
In the initial stages of nail fungus, there is a slight itching of the skin.
At the initial stages of nail fungus, there is a slight itching of the skin, peeling of the spaces between the toes, and an unpleasant odor of the feet. The nail plate does not respond to changes. In cases where the initial symptoms are ignored by a person, the disease begins to progress, affecting not only the nail folds, but also the nails themselves, which lose their natural shine and become yellow. Initially, white spots and stripes appear on the nails, which are quite noticeable. If a person does not carry out treatment at this stage, then the disease will progress, which will lead to an advanced form, which is characterized by the following symptoms:
With a fungal infection, the volume of the horny mass increases, which leads to its thickening, fragility, and delamination. When the nail begins to peel, free cavities appear in it, in which fungi actively multiply, and there is also an accumulation of dead cells, dirt and other microbes that can penetrate the layers of the skin and provoke a secondary infection, which will significantly complicate treatment.
Considering that in advanced forms of onychomycosis the nail becomes deformed, there is a high risk of developing onychocryptosis or, in other words, an ingrown nail, which not only causes severe pain, but can also cause purulent inflammation.
It is necessary to treat the fungus in the last stages of its development only after consultation with a doctor, since in such cases the use of ointments or folk remedies will not bring the desired result.
For advanced forms of nail fungus, treatment is carried out only comprehensively and includes both the use of external preparations (ointment, anti-fungal cream) and systemic treatment with oral administration of antifungal drugs, which are available in the form of tablets and capsules.
For advanced forms of nail fungus, treatment is carried out only comprehensively and includes taking antifungal drugs.
In addition to drug treatment, you need to treat the disease with folk remedies, as well as properly and regularly care for your feet.
It is impossible to cure advanced nail fungus with folk remedies, but using such treatment, you can significantly speed up the healing process. There are a huge number of recipes used in traditional medicine to treat nail fungus, but not all remedies are able to overcome fungal pathogens. Therefore, if a person decides to treat onychomycosis with folk remedies, you need to choose only proven methods that will really help overcome fungal pathogens.
Treatment of fungus with hydrogen peroxide, apple cider vinegar or soda is considered quite effective and popular.
Such remedies really help cope with fungal pathogens and speed up recovery. When nail fungus has progressed far enough, doctors in the field of dermatology often recommend laser treatment to their patients or more radical methods - surgery to remove the nail plate.
It is important to remember that treatment for nail fungus is quite lengthy and even after the disease has been cured, there is always a risk of relapse.
Important in treatment is not only the use of antifungal drugs and regular foot care, but also strengthening the body. For this it is important to use dietary nutrition.
Therefore, not only the use of antifungal drugs and regular foot care, but also the strengthening of the whole organism is considered important in treatment. To do this, the doctor may prescribe a complex of vitamins that enhance immunity, as well as a special diet.
It is better to treat nail fungus under the supervision of a doctor, as this will reduce the risk of all sorts of complications, as well as the penetration of infection into the bloodstream, which can cause fungal infection to damage any internal organ, which will significantly aggravate the course of the disease.
Treating nail fungus with vinegar is one of the most accessible and effective methods of traditional medicine. Vinegar provides an acid that ideally copes with various fungal pathogens and suppresses their vital activity. In order to cure fungus with vinegar, you can use either 9% table vinegar or apple or wine vinegar.
When treating fungus with apple cider vinegar or table vinegar, it is important that there are no wounds or cracks on the skin of the feet, since such treatment will only worsen the situation.
If there is no inflammation or wounds on the skin of the legs, you can treat onychomycosis with vinegar in the following ways.
In order to cure nail fungus, you can use apple cider vinegar.
Recipe No. 1. You will need 1 liter of warm water + 2 tbsp. 9% vinegar. You need to take baths once a day before bed for 15 minutes.
Recipe No. 2. To prepare, you need 1 tbsp olive oil + 1 tbsp apple or table vinegar. Add 1 chicken egg and 1 tsp to the resulting mixture. dimethyl phtholate. All components need to be mixed well, moisten a cotton swab in it and apply to the sore finger for 30 minutes. Initially, a slight burning sensation may be felt, which will subside within a few minutes. It is possible to treat nail fungus with vinegar in advanced stages, but only in combination with antifungal creams and tablets.
An advanced form of onychomycosis is often accompanied by inflammation of the skin around the affected nail plates, so disinfectant baths using potassium permanganate are an integral part of complex treatment. In addition to such baths, as an additional therapy, you can treat nail fungus with hydrogen peroxide, which has a pronounced antiseptic, antimicrobial effect and effectively destroys spores of fungal pathogens.
Before treating onychomycosis with hydrogen peroxide, you need to steam your nails well in a soda or herbal bath, then you can begin the treatment procedure.
After using hydrogen peroxide, you need to wrap your feet in plastic and put on socks.
You will need a cotton pad, which must be well moistened with hydrogen peroxide and applied to the sore nail for 40 - 60 minutes. On top of the nail you can wrap it in polyethylene and wear a warm sock. It is recommended to carry out this procedure 5 times a week until the nail is completely removed.
Hydrogen peroxide can be used to treat not only nails, but also feet, as well as the spaces between the toes.
A good result can be obtained if you treat the fungus with hydrogen peroxide along with apple cider vinegar. To prepare this recipe, you need to take peroxide and apple cider vinegar in equal parts and mix. Soak a cotton swab in the prepared solution and apply it to the nail plates or feet for 30 to 60 minutes.
Such compresses should be done until the hissing on the skin is observed. After the compress, the skin of the feet should be washed well with soap and any antifungal agent should be applied. It is possible to cure nail fungus with hydrogen peroxide, but only in the early stages of the disease. When the fungus is advanced and the nail plate becomes deformed, treatment with hydrogen peroxide can only act as an auxiliary therapy to the main treatment.
After the therapeutic compress, any antifungal agent should be applied to the skin of the feet.
If a person has decided to treat onychomycosis with folk remedies, then it is worth paying attention to other recipes based on iodine, celandine, soda, tea tree essential oil, tar and other natural substances that cope well with fungal pathogens.
In order to cure nail fungus, treatment should be carried out as early as possible and prevent more severe stages of the disease. An advanced form of fungal infection on the feet in all cases leads to complete or partial destruction of the nail plate. To prevent such complications, you need not only to start treatment as early as possible, but also to follow some rules:
Nail fungus - onychomycosis on the feet and hands - is one of the common diseases.
According to statistics from the World Health Organization, every fifth person on the planet suffers from this disease, which is why treating toenail fungus with folk remedies is quite popular and in most cases effective.
Healthy nails always look quite attractive; they are characterized by an even, smooth nail plate with a pleasant soft pink tint and a slight natural shine. If the appearance of the nails is different, it is likely that they are affected by a fungal infection, which is detected in 50% of cases of nail diseases.
The main signs of nail fungus (onychomycosis) are:
This disease is transmitted easily and quickly, primarily through public places (swimming pools, gyms, baths, etc.). The main way a fungal infection penetrates the skin is through microcracks that occur as a result of minor injuries, tight shoes, circulatory problems in the legs, deformed feet, etc.
Toenail fungus is treated with folk remedies alone or in combination with traditional medicine. It is better that various means are involved in therapy. Among medications, antimycotic drugs for internal and external use are most often used, depending on the complexity and stage of the disease. Traditional medicine recipes also offer remedies for internal use in the form of tinctures, teas, decoctions and external use in the form of ointments, compresses, and solutions.
Folk remedies for toenail fungus are quite varied, but there are several well-known recipes that are used more often than others.
One of these is the use of an alcohol solution of iodine. This product is a powerful antiseptic and has disinfecting, cauterizing, drying and tanning properties. In addition, iodine is able to coagulate the protein structure of the fungus, thereby destroying it directly.
To treat the disease, apply one drop of a 5% iodine-alcohol solution to the affected nails twice a day for 2-3 weeks. Within a week, this simple folk recipe for nail fungus will make itself felt. A slight itching and burning sensation will appear, indicating the onset of fungal infection. If pain is difficult to bear, nail treatment should be reduced from twice a day to once. In general, the course of treatment with this method will be 20-40 days.
It is also good to use iodine for preventive purposes. To do this, you need to treat each nail plate with one drop of the product every two days. At the same time, it is important not to touch the skin of the finger around the nail, so as not to burn or injure it.
Treatment of nail fungus with iodine can cause an allergic reaction associated with the body's individual intolerance to this substance. In this case, therapy should be stopped immediately and other means should be used.
Folk remedies for toenail fungus prepared with vinegar are also widely used. It is necessary to prepare a solution consisting of ordinary table vinegar 9% and water, maintaining a ratio of 1:8, and immerse the infected fingers and nails in it, after steaming them in ordinary hot water and removing the affected areas from the surface of the nail plate as much as possible. This procedure should be repeated seven times every day for two days.
Such folk remedies for nail fungus should be stored in the refrigerator or any other suitable cool place.
As noted above, in most cases, treatment with folk remedies, most of which are prepared on the basis of natural ingredients of plant and animal origin, helps eliminate toenail fungus (onychomycosis).
Recipe No. 1. Ointment for nail fungus based on vegetable oil and dimethyl phthalate.
In order to prepare this product, you will need the following ingredients:
All of the above ingredients should be combined and the resulting ointment should be applied to the affected nails. Wrap your fingers in regular plastic wrap and put on cotton socks. Leave applications with ointment overnight. Repeat this procedure for 3-4 days. Soon the affected nails will begin to die and healthy ones will grow in their place.
Recipe No. 2. Kombucha compress.
An excellent folk recipe for nail fungus is based on kombucha. It should be used as a compress. You need to take a piece of the mushroom plate, carefully remove the top thin film from it, and apply the rest to the affected nail from above, wrap it in plastic wrap and secure it with a regular bandage or put on thin socks. The compress should be done at night, and in the morning, rinse your nails well with warm water, if possible, cut off the dead parts and lubricate the remaining nail plate with iodine solution. It is worth noting that treating nail fungus with kombucha is quite painful, but very effective.
Recipe No. 3. Ointment for fungus based on eucalyptus and honey.
Folk remedies for toenail fungus prepared on the basis of eucalyptus are very effective. To do this you need to take:
All of the above ingredients must be mixed and the prepared ointment allowed to brew in the refrigerator for three days, then lubricate the affected nails with it daily.
Recipe No. 4. An effective anti-fungal remedy based on lavender and tea tree oil.
Essential oil helps very well against nail fungus, especially lavender. It helps fight infections and relieves skin irritation. And tea tree oil is a natural plant antibiotic. To prepare the product, mix lavender, tea tree and olive oil in equal proportions and apply the resulting mixture to sore nails for 8-10 hours (preferably overnight), protecting the treated nail plates with thin cotton socks.
Recipe No. 5. Baths of Listerine and vinegar.
This folk recipe for nail fungus includes a rather unusual drug - Listerine mouthwash. It should be combined in equal proportions with apple cider vinegar and lemon juice, diluted with a little warm water and immerse the fingers with infected nails in the bath for 15 minutes.
In order for the treatment of toenail fungus with folk remedies to be successful and not cause relapses, it is necessary to complete it, as well as to observe proper rules of personal hygiene in order to avoid re-infection with this disease.
Most people have nail fungus, which causes their nails to become unsightly. If you notice the first signs of fungus formation, you should not hope that everything will go away just like that.
The longer the fungus stays on your nails, the more difficult it is for your body to cope with the disease and the more difficult it will be to treat it.
Of course, toenail fungus can be treated with folk remedies, fortunately there are many of them. They can be used as additional or primary means of treatment.
I will give several methods for treating nail fungus, all of them are natural and effective, and, as they say, tested by our grandmothers, so you don’t have to be afraid to use them.
— It can be very useful to cleanse the blood and be sure to increase immunity in case of fungal diseases. An infusion containing two tablespoons of blackberry leaves and one tablespoon of calendula is very suitable for this. The prepared mixture is heated in a steam bath for twenty minutes, a tablespoon of this mixture is brewed with one glass of boiling water. The resulting infusion, after cooling, should be drunk three times a day, half a glass.
— You can use tea tree oil against nail fungus . If you lubricate twice every day, you will be able to get rid of the fungus in three months.
— The chicken egg remedy also helps. It is necessary to pour vinegar into the egg, then place it in a dark place. After dissolving the shell, it is necessary to remove the residual film. Then, when the mass becomes homogeneous, add butter to it. The ointment prepared in this way must be applied to the affected, previously well-steamed nails. Wrap the top with cellophane film and secure with a bandage. When the nail lifts and softens, immediately cut off the affected area. The procedure should be repeated until the fungus disappears.
— As a result of research, it was found that the fungus does not tolerate acidic environments, so it is recommended to successfully combat it by wiping your nails with vinegar.
— Also, fungi do not tolerate tangerine juice. It is recommended to wipe the affected areas with tangerine juice.
— If the legs and feet are infected with a fungus, you should use baths in water at summer temperature, in which you need to place a tablespoon of table salt and soda, and then rinse your feet in running water.
Before using traditional methods to treat toenail fungus, be sure to consult a specialist, or better yet, more than one. We really have only one medicine, but unfortunately, it cannot always help us. Well, what else is left to do otherwise? Of course, turn to our elders. They always know what and how to treat, they will always tell you the necessary herbs and decoctions.
To get rid of all kinds of fungi and parasites, traditional medicine offers recipes that are safe for our body, based on plants and natural ingredients that have strong antifungal and antiparasitic effects. Such herbs and plants have been known since ancient times; our ancestors used them to treat them. Additionally, you should take care of cleansing the body of accumulated waste and toxins, strengthening the immune system, and maintaining hygiene.
Folk remedies are effective in the initial stages of fungal development. If more than 1/3 of the nail is affected by fungus , completely eliminating the fungal infection with folk remedies alone can be problematic.
Treatment of foot fungus , including traditional methods, is usually carried out according to the following standard scheme:
Important ! Try different medicinal formulations. If the treatment is right for you, improvements should be visible immediately . If there is no progress within a week, take another recipe; folk recipes usually consist of inexpensive, readily available ingredients.
Thick, keratinized nails prevent the penetration of medicinal compounds directly into the affected area, so 2 times a week it is necessary to take a soap and soda bath and remove the softened keratinized layer of the nail affected by the fungus.
Stir 3 tbsp in 10 liters of hot water. shavings of laundry or tar soap. Pour 3 tablespoons of baking soda with a small amount of boiling water and add to a container with a soap solution. Mix well. Keep your feet in the soap and soda solution for 15 minutes.
After the pumice bath, clean the affected skin and use a nail file to remove as much of the damaged part of the nail as possible. Apply the treatment.
Tip: The nail file should be disposable or metal so that it can be disinfected. Use small pumice stones and throw away used ones immediately. Do not allow anyone in your family to use your pumice stone, even if you do not notice any fungus, because... family members often become infected with the fungus through this item.
If the nail is severely damaged by a fungal infection, it is advisable to remove the diseased keratinized nail completely and apply the remedy to a clean nail bed, otherwise medicinal ointments and topical solutions will be ineffective.
Prepare a mixture of 70% vinegar essence, ethyl alcohol and glycerin in a ratio of 2:2:1. Apply the resulting mixture to sore nails under a patch.
You can leave the mixture to work overnight, put the mixture under a bandage and put on thick socks. To peel off the nail, 3-5 procedures will be required.
Prepare medicinal ingredients: water, coconut oil (you can use Vaseline), urea and wax in a ratio of 3:7:6:2.
Melt the wax in a water bath, add the remaining ingredients, stir until smooth. Refrigerate. Apply the resulting viscous mass in a thick layer to the affected nail plates under a plaster or bandage. Leave to act for 2-3 days.
After several procedures, the nail affected by the fungus will easily come off.
Birch tar is used in traditional medicine not only to treat fungal infections of the nails and skin, but also to treat many skin diseases, eczema, psoriasis, and acne.
On the cleaned nail bed, apply pharmaceutical birch tar, mixed in half with coconut oil, under a bandage. Use 2 times a day. The new nail will grow healthy.
Use coconut oil or butter as the fat base for your homemade antifungal tar ointment. Add birch tar drop by drop to the oil. Try making 5% tar ointment first. If tar ointment does not cause discomfort for you, the concentration of tar can be increased to 20%.
Lubricate your feet with tar ointment at night. The fungus will quickly leave your feet.
Sulfur has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiparasitic, itching, and absorbable effects. Sulfur is prescribed externally for the treatment of scabies, dermatitis, microsporia, fungal infections, eczema, seborrhea and other skin diseases in the form of 5-20% ointments and liniments.
To prepare sulfur-tar ointment, take coconut oil, birch tar and sulfur powder in a ratio of 10:3:2. Heat the coconut oil slightly in a water bath, add the remaining ingredients, mix well.
Sulfur-tar ointment is lubricated on the feet and applied under a bandage to the nails affected by the fungus. Used for severe fungal infections.
Note: Precipitated sulfur is more active and better than purified sulfur. You can buy precipitated sulfur in veterinary pharmacies.
Take a soda-salt foot bath (per 1 liter of water: 2 tablespoons of salt, 1 tablespoon of soda). Soak cotton pads in hydrogen peroxide, place them on your nails, secure with a bandage, and cover with plastic on top. Leave these compresses on overnight. Repeat this procedure for 3 weeks.
In a similar way, fingernail fungus can be cured in 7-10 days.
In the morning and evening, drip hydrogen peroxide onto sore nails, or better yet, dip your nails in peroxide for 3 minutes and let the nails dry on their own. And at night, additionally, after the procedure with peroxide, soap your nails with tar soap, dip them in finely ground salt, tie with a bandage and leave overnight.
At night, drop 1 drop of ordinary iodine on sore nails, after drying, put on socks and sleep like that. Repeat the procedure for 5-10 days.
You can use this recipe. Mix 9% vinegar, 5% tincture of iodine and plain water in equal proportions. Lubricate your feet and nails with the resulting mixture at night. To prevent your skin from drying out, you can apply a little coconut oil on top.
Comment: It is better not to treat the nails of your hands with iodine, because... Nails don't look very aesthetically pleasing after iodine.
Propolis is the strongest natural antibiotic. For treatment, prepare a mixture of 100 ml of alcohol and 20 g of propolis crushed into powder.
Take a warm foot bath in a saturated solution of potassium permanganate. Dry your feet. Apply the mixture to damaged nails and under the nails as much as possible. Secure with a bandage. Leave it overnight. Repeat the procedure for 5-7 days.
Treat the skin of your feet against fungus with homemade alcohol tincture of propolis. In case of severe damage, first wipe the skin with peroxide, and after 15 minutes with an alcohol tincture of propolis.
If you don’t have real bee propolis on hand to prepare a homemade tincture, take a pharmacy propolis tincture. There will be an effect, although not as strong.
