Gout - treatment at home with folk remedies, causes and symptoms of the disease

Most joint diseases are always associated with a change in the level of uric acid, namely its increase. Uric acid is a breakdown product excreted by the kidneys along with urine; its normal levels are far from normal when foods rich in purines are consumed.

The body is unable to destroy a large amount of this acid, and it gradually poisons the body, affecting the joints with diseases such as gout, rheumatism of the joints, arthrosis, arthritis, etc. Treatment of gout at home is a question that concerns many lovers and admirers of traditional medicine and simply those who do not like to sit in queues to see specialist doctors. If you are one of these people or just someone who cares about your health, then this article is for you!

Gout as a joint disease

It is important to know! Doctors are shocked: “An effective and affordable remedy for joint pain exists. " Read more.

As mentioned above, the causes of gout are increased levels of uric acid in the human body. When there is an excess of it, the substance crystallizes; these crystals, instead of leaving the body in a disintegrated form, settle in grains on the joints, causing degenerative processes. Crystalline deposits on the joints cause pain, redness and very rapid development of the inflammatory process inside the joint.

However, uric acid and kidneys that cannot cope with it are not always the culprits of diseased joints. There are often cases when the urinary system functions normally, and the level of uric acid in the blood is within normal limits, but this disease is diagnosed and progresses at a high rate. Therefore, all the causes of gout are not fully understood.

What signs indicate joint problems? The most common symptoms of gout at the initial stage of the disease are discomfort, swelling and morning stiffness.

If treatment is not started immediately, the symptoms begin to progress, usually these are:

  • Acute pain;
  • Joint swelling;
  • Redness;
  • Impatience with even a light touch on a sore spot;
  • Increased body temperature in the affected area;
  • Nodularity of the ears;
  • Immobility of joints.
  • These symptoms are noteworthy in that they all appear mainly exclusively at night, thereby not allowing the person to fully rest and exhausting them every night.

    Nighttime symptoms are a sign that gout is in an exacerbation, which can last for several days.

    Causes of gout

    And although the causes of this complex disease are not fully understood, the following individuals are at risk:

  • Elderly.
  • With a burdened heredity.
  • With malformations of the excretory organs.
  • With kidney diseases.
  • With metabolic disorders.
  • Obese or simply overweight.
  • Treatment of gout with traditional methods

    Since it is almost impossible to suspect the appearance of gout in the early stages, its treatment begins only during an exacerbation.

    If gout worsens, it can be cured using the following methods:

  • Medicines. Medications relieve painful gout attacks and relieve inflammation. For this, traditional NSAIDs, painkillers, corticosteroids, and sometimes antibiotics are usually prescribed. In addition, prescribed medications restore normal levels of uric acid in the blood and normalize metabolism.
  • The following methods are widely used to relieve the symptoms of gout: pain relief, resting the sore joint, dry heat.
  • Treatment of the disease at home

    However, despite the rich variety of traditional methods of treating gout, no one has yet come up with a universal remedy for gout that will easily and quickly permanently relieve burning pain and deformation in the joint. That is why, when this unpleasant illness worsens, many strive to find out or create folk remedies for gout.

    Treating gout at home involves using:

  • Alternative medicine.
  • Proper nutrition, adherence to a therapeutic diet.
  • Even “advanced” joint problems can be cured at home! Just remember to apply this once a day.

    Treating gout at home with a specially selected diet is a good start in the fight against the disease. A therapeutic diet is a refusal of certain foods that provoke irreversible changes in the human body. In this case, the list of prohibited products includes those that provoke an increase in the level of uric acid in the blood in large doses:

    1. Fatty red meat.
    2. Fatty red fish.
    3. Stew.
    4. Canned fish and other offal.
    5. Smoking and drying products.
    6. Mushrooms.
    7. Beans.
    8. Sorrel and cauliflower, broccoli.
    9. Cocoa, coffee, strong tea, milk, chocolate.
    10. Alcohol, tobacco.
    11. Flour, salted, pickled, pickled, hot, spicy, seasonings.
    12. But vegetables, steamed or baked in the oven can be consumed in unlimited quantities; as a rule, these include potatoes, herbs, tomatoes and cucumbers, radishes, in general, everything except the products listed above. In addition, to remove harmful substances from the body, you need to drink a lot. It is better if it is simple drinking water, but drinking mineral water is not prohibited, although the amount drunk should not be more than half a liter per day.

      It is also recommended to take pasta, cereals, bran bread or any other coarse grind.

      Traditional medicine in the fight against gout at home

      Traditional methods of treating gout involve preparing remedies at home that will later be used externally: compresses, ointments, patches, etc.

    13. Homemade gout solution. To prepare it, two ingredients are taken - iodine and aspirin tablets. One dessert spoon of medical iodine is mixed with two crushed tablets of acetylsalicylic acid, and time is waited for the solution to discolor. The liquid is applied to the affected area and nodules of crystalline deposits using a cotton swab, the areas are insulated, and in the morning the areas are washed under running warm water and soap. Continue the course of treatment until the tophi (that is, deposits) disappear.
    14. Baking soda and iodine dissolved in water are another excellent remedy in the fight against gout. To prepare the bath, one tablespoon of soda and one drop of iodine are dissolved in a liter of warm water. Immerse the affected joint in the solution for 15 minutes. The course of treatment is two weeks. Compresses help with gout.
    15. A fresh fish compress, for the preparation of which fresh fish fillets are taken, is applied overnight and insulated with a warm cloth (sock, glove, scarf). The course of use of this remedy is at least 10 days.
    16. Mix salt and honey in equal quantities until smooth, apply the mixture in a thick layer on a cotton cloth, wrap it around the sore joint, put a plastic bag on top and insulate it with the cloth. Leave the compress overnight. Use the product until visible results appear.
    17. Rye has long been famous for its healing properties. Therefore, using rye bread in combination with kefir is an excellent remedy for combating joint diseases, especially when it comes to gout. Preparing this compress at home is not difficult. Break pieces of rye bread into a glass of kefir; there should be enough bread so that, when broken, it fills the glass. When the mass becomes limp, mix everything. The consistency should be a cream; apply this substance to the sore spot as thickly as possible, wrap it in a plastic bag, insulate it with a woolen cloth and leave it overnight. In the morning, remove and rinse with cool water, rub until red with a woolen cloth.
    18. Crush activated carbon tablets together with flaxseed, add boiled water, make a thick paste from the mixture, wrap in a plastic bag and another layer of cloth, leave overnight. In the morning, remove the bandage and rinse.
    19. Mix soda, honey and mustard powder well in equal parts, apply the mixture to the affected area, after steaming it in hot water, put a bag on top and insulate it with a cloth. Leave overnight, rinse with cool water in the morning.
    20. Melt homemade or high-quality unsalted store-bought butter until liquid, mix pure medical alcohol in the same volume as the butter with butter, bring to a boil over low heat, remove from heat and cool. Rub the resulting ointment onto the sore spot, put a bag on top and insulate it with a woolen cloth.
    21. Mix lilac flowers with a glass of vodka, leave in a dark place for a week, shake and stir the mixture every day. After seven days, the mixture can be consumed. Treatment should begin with 50 drops before meals, gradually increasing the dose to 100 drops. The course of treatment is one month.
    22. Pour three clean onions, not peeled, with a liter of water and cook over low heat until the onion is completely boiled. Strain the broth and take one glass three times a day for two weeks before meals. Then you need to take a week break and repeat the two-week course again.
    23. In addition, if you want to help yourself with gout at home, you can eat an unlimited amount of berries, fruits and vegetables such as blueberries, elderberry (decoction of it), carrots, apples, lemons with sugar, cherries, strawberries (namely strawberries, not strawberry). In addition, to prevent the development of joint diseases, you can take infusions of string, chamomile, and birch leaf.

      Thus, both traditional and non-traditional methods, namely folk remedies, are widely used to relieve gout symptoms. If the symptoms of the disease worsen, it can be cured using the following methods:

    24. Traditional: NSAIDs, corticosteroids, antibiotics, drugs that restore metabolism and reduce high levels of uric acid in the blood.
    25. Non-traditional: various herbs, compresses for gout, decoctions, poultices, medicinal plasters based on medicinal herbs and prepared at home.
    26. It is important not only to use compresses, infusions, ointments prepared at home, but also to follow a therapeutic diet, since treatment with folk remedies while simultaneously introducing harmful substances into the body is pointless.

        Recipes for treating gout with folk remedies

        The joint is destroyed by the destructive action of uric acid crystals

        For gout, doctors first prescribe medications, diet, feasible physical activity, and other treatment methods. Folk remedies for gout have fewer contraindications and side effects than medications. Therefore, many doctors additionally recommend treating gout with folk remedies. This is quite reasonable, since natural substances are sometimes no less effective than synthesized ones.

        Why is it so important not to start the disease?

        People suffering from this serious illness complain of unbearable joint pain. Why do they arise? Gout receives an impetus for development as soon as the metabolism of purine substances is disrupted. Because of this failure, uric acid salts are no longer actively excreted, and some of them are gradually deposited in the kidneys, cartilage, and joints.

        Gouty arthritis gradually develops. Over time, deposits of uric acid salts increase, and as a result of the inflammatory process, knobby growths (tophi) can form. They most often occur on the arms and legs. By the way, it’s not for nothing that “gout” is translated from ancient Greek as “foot trap.”

        The gouty joint becomes increasingly deformed, and if the disease is not seriously treated, the joint capsule may completely collapse. And this is already very advanced arthritis, getting rid of which is extremely difficult, and it is better not to bring the joint to a catastrophic state. How to treat such a complication? The only way out is surgery to implant an artificial joint.

        Periods of remission often alternate with periods of exacerbation. This is what distinguishes gout: its symptoms either weaken or intensify. The painful condition usually lasts about a week. Treatment is absolutely necessary, otherwise attacks will appear more and more often. Moreover, each subsequent one will be stronger than the previous one.

        The disease progresses rapidly and affects healthy joints

        Gouty arthritis is an insidious disease. It brings not only pain, which sharply worsens the patient’s quality of life, but can also lead to immobility. If the disease is severe, disability is inevitable.

        How to cure gout? Alas, this is almost impossible to completely. But treatment can relieve painful symptoms. True, this requires a lot of effort, patience and time, because gouty arthritis is a serious chronic disease. It is important to slow down the progression of the disease and improve the patient’s condition, and folk remedies can help with this.

        Alternative medicine tips

      • With diligent treatment, stubborn gout is stopped, and at the same time folk remedies turn out to be very effective. It is only important to choose recipes that will be most effective for you. But traditional methods of curing this disease can only be effective with proper nutrition.

        Diet: what you shouldn’t and shouldn’t eat if you have gout

        You can't eat this!

        Compliance with the rules of therapeutic nutrition significantly increases the therapeutic effect. There are even cases where a strict diet alone significantly improved the quality of life of patients. This is explained by the fact that dietary intake limits the supply of purine substances, and their levels in the body decrease.

        Diet No. 6 is used in the treatment of gout. Its basic principles are simple:

      • preference should be given to low-calorie foods;
      • you need to eat regularly and in small portions, 4-5 times a day;
      • it is important to drink a lot of fluid, about 3 liters during exacerbations of gout and 1.5-2 liters during periods of remission;
      • it is necessary to get rid of extra pounds gradually, losing no more than 1-2 kg per month;
      • You should absolutely not overeat or starve.
      • There is an opinion that during exacerbations of this disease it is useful to fast. This is fundamentally wrong. Any fasting diet, whether for weight loss or to cleanse the body, is strictly contraindicated for gout. The patient's condition will only worsen!

        So, how to create a treatment menu? It is necessary to avoid foods that are high in purine compounds. These are food products and dishes such as:

      • meat, fish and mushroom first courses;
      • fatty meat and fish, offal, sausages, animal fats;
      • any canned food, pickles, smoked meats;
      • legumes, mushrooms, sorrel, cauliflower, spinach;
      • fatty, spicy, salty cheeses;
      • chocolate, cocoa;
      • alcohol (primarily beer and wine), strong coffee and tea: they aggravate joint pain;
      • herbs, spices (except vinegar and bay leaf).
      • Eliminate salt from your diet

        What does the diet restrict? Strictly - consumption of table salt. You can and should eat meat and fish, as they are a source of proteins. But only low-fat, no more than 300 g per week and only boiled, stewed or baked.

        Treatment of gout does not allow any fried main courses! From time to time you can include boiled chicken eggs in your diet. You need to eat bread, boiled potatoes, and pasta in reasonable quantities.

        You also need to consume more foods that activate the removal of uric acid from the blood and prevent the deposition of its salts in tissues. Treatment of gout at home should be carried out, including in the menu light vegetable and milk soups, various cereals, fermented milk products, fresh vegetables, especially eggplants, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes (limited), as well as garlic, walnuts, hazelnuts.

        The most useful fruits are apples and citrus fruits: they reduce joint pain. Juices are also good, but only freshly squeezed ones. You should drink alkaline mineral water regularly: it accelerates the removal of purines from the body.

        Diet has been proven to significantly alleviate gout. Therefore, strict adherence to it is mandatory in the complex treatment of this insidious disease.

        How to cure gout at home using folk remedies

        Gout is a disease known to mankind for many centuries. From the pages of ancient medical books, it appears before us under the noble name “Disease of Kings.” But those suffering from it know how sometimes severely and by no means aristocratically gout can disfigure a person’s appearance. Treatment with folk remedies for this disease has been widely used since the time of Hippocrates. But even now, modern diagnosis and treatment of gout can be perfectly complemented by the invaluable knowledge of the ancients.

        The cause of this disease is the gradual accumulation of uric acid salts (so-called urate crystals) in the joints of the body, due to a violation of protein metabolism in the body. In turn, excess uric acid is caused either by problems in the excretory function of the human kidneys, or by too rapid accumulation of urate salts, in which even healthy kidneys do not have time to excrete them.

        Gradually, uric acid crystals, deposited on some joint, form tophi (or bumps), which are visible to the naked eye. The body's immune system perceives them as dangerous foreign bodies and turns on defense mechanisms - a sharp jump in leukocytes in the blood occurs in the human body. By attacking a human joint, they essentially do a disservice to the patient, since under their influence, it begins to redden, swell and cause pain of varying intensity. The worst case scenario for gout is complete destruction of the joint capsule and subsequent surgical intervention.

        Gout can also affect the kidneys, as too much uric acid builds up and leads to the formation of kidney stones. And this, naturally, leads to a worsening of the disease and well-being. If the kidneys are still inflamed, then treating pyelonephritis with folk remedies will help.

        Diet for the treatment of gout

        Before you start treating gout with folk remedies, you should adjust your diet, since the formation of uric acid crystals inside us is directly related to what we eat. In particular, purines contained in very large quantities in products of animal origin (animal fat) can contribute to the occurrence of gout. Those who drink excessive alcohol, which helps slow down the removal of urate crystals from the body, are also at risk.

        When treating gout, foods with a high content of animal fats should be excluded from the diet: sardines and sprats, fatty meats and fish, smoked meats and canned food. If your attending physician allows, you can eat 200-300 g of boiled meat per week, but under no circumstances use the broth obtained as a result of boiling it - it is in boiling water that most purine compounds leave the meat.

        The amount of salt consumed should also be limited; its daily requirement for the treatment of gout is only 1 gram! Animal fat must be replaced with vegetable fat, but also limiting its consumption to 10-30 g per day.

        It should be remembered that products of animal origin, although they are the main culprits in the formation of urates, are, unfortunately, not the only ones that can cause such a painful disease as gout. Treatment with folk remedies may not give the desired result if a person also consumes large amounts of chocolate, cocoa, tea, coffee, spinach, mushrooms, cauliflower and legumes. They also contain a large amount of purines! Therefore, it is better, if not to exclude, then at least to significantly limit their consumption in food, and, on the contrary, to “lean” on fermented milk and dairy products, as well as raw fruits and vegetables. If you have gout, you are allowed to eat bread and pasta, cereals, potatoes, eggs and berries. Tomatoes and citrus fruits may be especially beneficial for this disease due to their very low purine content.

        It should be noted that for obese people suffering from gout, although it is useful to adhere to a low-calorie diet during its treatment, they should never go hungry. Hunger increases the level of uric acid in the blood and, as a result, the course of the disease will worsen.

        When treating gout at home, in addition to medications, traditional methods are widely used, sometimes very unusual, but effective. Let's look at some of them.

        This method works well in treating heel spurs (for other recipes for treating heel spurs with folk remedies, see the special article). You should separate the meat of any fish from the backbone (2 kg), divide it into 10 parts and put it in the freezer, packed in cellophane bags. Before going to bed, you need to take out one portion, defrost it, cover the sore spot with fish fillet and wrap it in a bag. Wear warm socks on top. In the morning, remove the compress and wash your foot. After 10 days, gouty pain should subside.

        Activated carbon in the treatment of gout

        This method may not cure you of gout forever, but it is quite capable of relieving debilitating pain in inflamed joints for some time.

        Grind a handful of activated carbon in a coffee grinder, bringing the amount of powder obtained to half a glass. Add some water and one tablespoon of flaxseed there. Stir everything to a paste-like consistency and lubricate the sore spot with the resulting mixture overnight. Place polyethylene on top and tie with some fabric. Usually relief occurs in the morning.

        Ointment according to an old Russian recipe

        Take unsalted butter, homemade butter and alcohol in equal quantities. Melt the butter in a frying pan until foam appears and carefully pour the alcohol into it. Then the alcohol must also be carefully set on fire, wait until it burns out and collect the resulting ointment in some container. It needs to be stored in the refrigerator.

        During an attack of gout, treatment with this ointment is carried out by rubbing it into the sore spot. Moreover, this must be done next to some heat source, for example, a fireplace, heater or hot central heating radiator. You need to rub the composition until the pain subsides.

        Onion soup for the treatment of gout

        Wash 2-3 onions (along with the peel), add a liter of water and place on moderate heat. Cook until the onion is completely softened. Then you need to strain this broth and take one glass 3 times a day before meals. The duration of treatment is 10-15 days, after which you need to take a break.

        This remedy is good for treating gouty joint pain. You need to take it in courses as the pain returns.

        Treatment of gout with iodine

        Iodine is an ancient and very effective remedy in the treatment of gout. You need to take exactly 10 ml of iodine and dissolve 5 aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) tablets in it. The result should be a completely colorless liquid, which should be lubricated on sore joints at night. Wear warm gloves or socks on top.

        Foot baths with iodine are also useful for this disease. To prepare them, you need to take 3 liters of warm water, add 3 teaspoons of baking soda and 9 drops of iodine. Regular use of such a bath is very effective in reducing salt lumps on the bones.

        Herbal medicine in the treatment of gout

        Herbs are another powerful remedy that relieves gout. Treatment with folk remedies for this disease mainly involves decoctions and tinctures containing both one plant and a combination of them. For example:

      • Pharmaceutical camomile. A decoction of chamomile flowers (100g per 10 liters of water) and 200g of salt is used to make a bath for affected joints.

      Chamomile and black elderberry (flowers) are mixed in equal parts, poured with a small amount of boiling water and heated without boiling. Moisten small pieces of cloth with the resulting decoction and apply to the sore spot. This recipe will also help with toothache, headaches and back pain.

    27. A series. Regularly drink an infusion of the series, brewed like tea. Any dosage, to taste. Brew with boiled water (not boiling water) for 15 minutes. The result should be a golden drink that must be drunk hot.

      If you collect the string yourself, make sure that it is not overripe during the budding process of the flowers. It is better to dry the grass by collecting it in small bunches in a dry, dark place.

    28. Common lilac. Fill a glass bottle with lilac flowers, without sealing it up to the neck. Pour 200 ml of good vodka or alcohol into them. Infuse the mixture for 7 days in a dark place, shaking occasionally.

      Take the resulting tincture orally, 20-30 drops (alcohol) or 50 drops (vodka) 3 times a day before meals.

    29. Professor S.Ya Sokolov's recipe for advanced gout. Prepare a dry mixture from the following plants: young birch leaf (20 parts), horsetail (20 parts), willow bark (20 parts), stinging nettle leaf (10 parts), black elderberry flowers (10 parts), buckthorn bark (5 parts ), juniper fruits (5 parts), peony flowers (5 parts), calendula flowers (5 parts), blue cornflower flowers (5 parts).

      Next, pour one tablespoon of the resulting mixture into 300 ml of boiling water, cover and leave for 30 minutes. Then drink the entire broth. And repeat this every 2 hours until relief occurs.

    30. And in conclusion, I would like to share one more piece of advice: remember that a sedentary, sedentary lifestyle is what gout loves very much. Treatment with folk remedies for this disease must necessarily be accompanied by long walks and feasible physical exercise.

      I took exactly 10 ml of iodine and tried to dissolve 5 aspirin tablets in it. The tablets have spread, but do not dissolve (precipitate), the iodine does not become transparent.

      One of the main rules for treating gout is to maintain a balanced diet, excluding fish, eggs, legumes, sorrel and meat!

      The iodine did not become transparent, the aspirin settled to the bottom in grains. What's wrong?

      Have I not met any conditions?

      iodine also did not change the color. What is the reason?

      The author seems to have made a slight mistake. Not aspirin, but analgin. This is how I personally use it. I crush an analgin tablet into a fine powder in a teaspoonful. I fill it with iodine. I stir it with a match/toothpick/something. After 10-15 seconds, the liquid begins to lighten and turns into a slightly purple transparent solution. Apply to a cotton swab and apply to the sore spot.

      There's something about it. I know about the prescription with analgin. Only it mixes with alcohol there. And for the treatment of spurs, varicose veins and other leg diseases.

      To the above, I will add that acid is deposited in those joints whose temperature is reduced, which facilitates coistal formation. The old rule is to keep your feet warm.

      Being a professional chemist, physicist and microbiologist, relying on my own and literary knowledge, I assume that GOUT (like many other diseases) is the result of our illiteracy (not knowing the basics of rational nutrition), lack of discipline (we know, but we don’t do it), laziness ( we don’t want to spend time and effort on studying, buying, preparing and eating healthy food in a timely manner) and such a sin as gluttony (if you can’t eat something harmful, but tasty, and you really want it or are used to it, then you can). All of the listed sins inevitably lead to the typical diseases that occur from generation to generation in a huge number of people, including GOUT. It all starts with intestinal dysfunction, which is caused by a sequence of the following factors:

      1. incorrect, excessive, untimely, concentrated nutrition with preservative impurities, especially during nervous stress, for most people;

      2. preservatives kill the natural intestinal microflora, which leads to a deterioration in the absorption of necessary substances and the removal of toxins. Preservatives include: sugar, salt, vinegar. everything is spicy, everything is smoked, antibiotics both in the form of tablets and in chickens, in meat, in factory milk, coffee, teas, etc. Preservatives cause dysbacteriosis. To treat dysbacteriosis, you need to go to an infectious disease specialist and get tested. It will determine which beneficial bacteria you have little or no. Most often there are no bifidobacteria. There are a lot of them in bifidokefirs. Various yogurts are also useful - sources of lactic and lactic acid bacteria;

      3. a more rapid decrease in physical activity and metabolism with age (and the onset of many diseases) compared to a natural decrease in the amount of food consumed (we continue to eat a lot and it’s tasty, but harmful);

      4. poor digestion of excess and high molecular weight food, which enters the intestines in an “undercooked” form (constipation) and, partially, into the blood;

      5. thickening of the blood with age, and as a result, “slagging” of the blood capillaries with clots (for example, “bad” cholesterol), microcrystals (for example, uric acid), absorbed into the blood from a diseased intestine, but nutrients and metabolic products not absorbed by the tissues , colonies of bacteria, fungi, parasites, viruses, etc.;

      6. development of pathogenic mutating and malignant microflora in sick, swollen, with impaired blood flow, decaying places.

      7. A special role, in my opinion, in this terrible picture is played by such cunning and invincible creatures as MUSHROOMS, which multiply rapidly in people with diabetes and sweet tooth. The point is the increased content of sugar and foods with a high glycemic index (starch - jelly, white bread, buns, pies, cakes, sweets, etc.), which plays a double fatal role. Firstly, these substances are useful normally, but even with a small excess they do not have time to convert 100% into glycogen (which we need and is usefully stored in the liver) or used for energy production. The excess goes to feed pathogenic microorganisms, including fungi. Secondly, excess sugars cause fungal growth. For gout patients it is worth understanding well. For example, nail fungus is a common problem in diabetics. The same thing happens to people with bunions. More than once I have heard such a complaint that if you eat more cottage cheese (a source of calcium) without sugar, then nothing, but if with sugar, then the bone grows more, turns red and begins to hurt.

      9 Kidney failure, especially with even slightly elevated sugar levels, can lead to generalized gout affecting the entire body. If your kidneys are not okay, TREAT them. Follow the regime. God forbid you eat a lot of sweets and protein (meat, fish, poultry, dairy) at night. At night only porridge with water or clean water Protein 3 hours before bedtime

      CONCLUSION. What should a non-specialist with gout do in the absence of highly professional medical care? But, in my opinion, what.

      It is necessary slowly, gradually, stretching over weeks:

      - reduce the amount of food you consume by 1/3, while simultaneously adding physical activity;

      - sit down at the table, only at the same time, 5-6 times a day, stop eating strictly when you feel slightly full (OVEREATING will cause injury for many weeks.);

      - in between meals, drink 1-3 glasses of clean warm water every day and always;

      - reduce sweets by 3 times (for older people, no more than 3 pieces of sugar per day (including sweets, jam and everything sweet);

      - eat more boiled and as little fried as possible;

      - while at home, always move, go to the store several times a day, take away all the household physical work from household members (rest while lying down strictly before eating.);

      - contrast shower in the morning and evening;

      — exercises 4 times a day;

      - for nervous and easily excitable people, drink sage - the herb of wisdom and remember that it is easiest to calm nerves with physical exercise.

      For the diet, I will repeat what is known that gout sufferers need to sharply reduce or for some time eliminate the intake of fish, eggs, legumes, sorrel, meat, smoked meats, and canned food. pickles, tea, coffee, alcoholic drinks, mushrooms and DO NOT BE NERVOUS. NERVOUS COLLEAGUES, remember, most problems resolve themselves over time, a significant part cannot be solved “even if you crack it” - you need to adapt. With other problems, you need to leave the action plan and start working on it. If you get very tired, transfer this problem to the category of unsolvable ones and spit on it. Discuss everything with your friends, and especially important, with your enemies.

        Reviews of traditional methods of treatment

        Reviews about the treatment of gout with folk remedies confirm their effectiveness as an auxiliary method to the basic treatment prescribed by a doctor.

        My son was diagnosed with gout. The level of uric acid was just off the charts. During the attacks I simply climbed the walls in pain. Completed a course of drug therapy. It was possible to reduce the number of attacks. Now gout makes itself felt once or twice a year. But the uric acid level did not fall. The doctor recommended sticking to a diet. I read folk recipes and decided to try it. She gave her son decoctions of elderberry, string and chamomile. And over the year, the quantitative indicators of uric acid decreased significantly. My son graduated from college and runs in the morning. The gout has receded. And now he feels noticeably better.

        Katerina Egorovna, 56 years old, Novosibirsk.

        It all started with a burning sensation in the knees and feet. Then a bone began to form on my thumb. Periodically, I did not sleep at night due to severe pain. I went to the doctor. I went through a whole list of tests. Diagnosed with gout. In addition to the prescribed tablets and ointments, on the doctor’s recommendation, I took baths with sea salt, sage and celandine. I also made compresses with honey and salt or propolis. I alternated week after week. The treatment is long but effective. Gout attacks have become much less frequent, and the pain is not so severe. I gave up fried and smoked foods. I try to drink more water. And gout hardly bothers me. But the bones do not spoil the appearance of the legs.

        Irina, 48 years old, Perm.

        Despite the fact that gout is a chronic disease, you can live a full life with it. Treatment of gout on the legs at home with folk remedies will help reduce the intensity of attacks, relieve swelling and inflammation. But any treatment for gout should be carried out only after consultation with your doctor.
