Among the medical terms, the most suitable one to explain pain in the face and head is prosopalgia. This is a symptom in which a person complains of pain in the head and face. There is a large list of diseases that can have exactly these initial symptoms. Therefore, sometimes it is difficult even for an experienced doctor to make the correct diagnosis during the first examination.
In medical practice, it is not uncommon for patients to come to the doctor with the following complaint: their face hurts and their head hurts. There can be many reasons for such symptoms.
It is facial pain that can appear as a result of irritation of the facial muscles, nerve endings, as a result of damage to the facial bones and the front of the skull, during inflammatory processes on the skin, due to migraines. The cause of pain symptoms can be osteochondrosis, cluster headaches and other diseases that can simply transmit sensations to the facial muscles. In this case, the patient may complain of pain throughout the face or in certain parts of it. Muscle pain can appear in certain areas and have the following origins:
If your face hurts for any of the above reasons, then this is a case when you need to consult a neurologist. Most often, in such cases, you will be prescribed medications to relieve pain symptoms and treat the very cause of the disease.
Of course, there are cases when the cause of pain on the face is skin rashes and allergic reactions. A person's face may exhibit various skin pathologies. The result of pain is the resulting injuries, which results in the formation of edema and hemorrhages in the subcutaneous layer. And the accompanying headache is only the result of the discomfort endured and the symptoms spreading to the entire surface of the scalp.
Neurological cases are considered the most difficult to diagnose, in which it is necessary to correctly determine which nerve is affected. In this case, a person may feel that half of his face hurts. This may be the right side or the left. Medicines and physiotherapy are used to treat the disease.
If a patient complains of simultaneous pain in the head and face, then in most cases this is associated with migraine. This diagnosis has its own peculiarity. The patient says that a certain side of his face hurts. The symptom appears only on one part of the head and rarely spreads to another. This pain can be described as severe, having a boring nature. It may not stop for 18-36 hours. Women between the ages of 20 and 30 are most susceptible to migraines, and then the symptoms subside over time.
When the right or left side of the face hurts, the main cause is cluster headaches that occur serially. There are times when a patient complains of an eye problem, while pain sensations simply radiate to the nerves of the visual organs. Most often, men who have bad habits, namely alcohol abuse and constant smoking, consult a doctor with this symptom. The doctor can immediately identify the symptoms by the mucous membranes of the eyes, which become very watery and red.
When a patient complains of pain on the left or right side of the face (it also turns red, as if it’s burning, and the head starts to hurt), then all of these are the main symptoms of a hypertensive crisis. In addition, sharp surges in pressure are observed, nausea and vomiting begin, tinnitus appears, temples pulsate and the heart hurts.
Headaches can occur on any part of the head. This could be the occipital region, forehead, temples, areas around the eyes. According to the type of manifestations, the pain sensations can be sharp, aching, and a burning or pulsating feeling may appear.
As a separate section, you need to highlight headaches on the left side of the head and face. Many may think that it is very strange when only part of it hurts, but, alas, this is not uncommon. As mentioned earlier, the main cause of pain on the left side of the head is migraine. It is capable of capturing areas around the eyes, the temporal region, the left side of the forehead or jaw. For example, even before the onset of a migraine, a person may observe certain symptoms: the eye produces various flickers, spots, flickering dots or stripes appear. All this is popularly called “darkening of the eyes.” With a migraine, the skin on the head or face often begins to ache, it swells and becomes especially sensitive. And after a migraine attack, a person feels sleepy, lethargic and gets tired quickly.
Another reason why the left side of the head hurts is a diagnosis such as osteochondrosis. At the same time, calcium salts are deposited in the vertebrae, which begin to compress the cervical arteries, which are responsible for supplying the brain with blood. As a result, nutrients cease to be supplied in sufficient quantities, causing spasms and collapse of blood vessels. There is also a lack of oxygen in the brain, which causes dizziness. In this case, the pain becomes aching and pulling. The distribution of intracranial pressure is also distorted. It can constantly rise and fall, which manifests itself as pulsation in the temples, inside the head, or pain in the eye area.
There are people who suffer from weather sensitivity. These may be sharp spasms, pressing sensations or pain in the left temple, area near the ear, frontal or occipital part. Such symptoms appear several hours before precipitation, sudden warming or cold snap. Changing weather conditions affect blood pressure and intracranial pressure in some people. In addition to the above-mentioned symptoms, fractures in the teeth or jaw, pain in certain points around the eyes, and in the cervical region may be added.
When an infection occurs in the body, a person may complain of symptoms such as boring, pulling pain in the left half of the skull and face. The cause of this condition may be caries, which has penetrated to the nerve endings of the teeth, or a cold in the ear, from which sensations are transmitted to the back of the head or temple. Cold or injured muscles will often become inflamed and painful with any movement or touching of the face, turning the neck or head.
You can often relieve your pain and migraines on your own in the following ways:
But these tips will only help with minor pain that happens to you regularly, and the diagnosis has long been established. Otherwise, using such folk methods you can only harm yourself. For example, not every migraine can go away after taking a pain reliever. Most likely, you cannot do without a visit to a neurologist.
A neurologist will be able to correctly prescribe special medications that will help normalize metabolism and tone the blood vessels in the brain.
The doctor is able to determine whether the pain is truly the result of minor disorders or inflammation, or whether it is symptoms of a tumor, traumatic brain injury, or stroke. A more detailed picture will be shown by examination using ultrasound or MRI.

A wasp sting is significantly different from the bites of insects such as a bee or a mosquito. The moment a bee stings a person, it leaves its sting in his skin, and therefore dies some time later.
The wasp's sting does not have serrations; after a bite, it remains in the body of the insect, which safely flies away and continues its existence. In addition, the wasp is much larger than the bee, which is why it stings somewhat more painfully.
Like most insects, wasps appear outdoors when the weather warms up, usually in the last month of spring. You can encounter this hymenoptera anywhere, most often outside the city, in a country house or in a field. Wasps can take a liking to human habitation. They build nests under the roofs of wooden houses, outbuildings, and garages. This nest is a small gray cocoon. Such proximity to insects is not only unpleasant, but also dangerous for humans. It is sometimes quite difficult to remove wasps that have settled under the roof of a house.
By stinging, the wasp injects a small amount of poison into the human body, which can cause an allergic reaction and lead to general intoxication. Usually, the bite of one wasp does not pose a danger to human life, since the amount of poison injected into it is so small that it is not capable of causing serious poisoning.
At the moment when a wasp stings, a person feels acute pain from its sting, then redness of the skin occurs at the site of the bite, and slight swelling may be observed. Some people, usually women and young children, may experience a slight increase in body temperature due to a wasp sting. Such symptoms last for several hours or 2-3 days, then completely disappear.
The bite of any insect is dangerous due to its ability to cause severe swelling and provoke
If your leg suddenly swells, what should you do? Sometimes even a completely healthy person can have swollen feet under certain circumstances. For example, in women, swelling of the legs may appear during menstruation , and many also experience swollen legs during long flights . Often the legs become swollen from being in the sun .
The cause of swollen feet can also be an allergy to any smells or foods. Also, the cause of swelling of the legs can be various injuries , for example, if the leg is twisted or dislocated.
The most important thing is to correctly determine the cause of swelling or edema of the legs. Therefore, you should not immediately grab diuretics if your feet begin to go numb, swollen or cold. Consult your doctor to find out the cause. Let's consider several treatment options.
If one leg is swollen or swollen, it may be phlebitis. Anticoagulants will help, and you should also keep your feet warm, rested, and slightly elevated.
Varicose veins sometimes require surgery. In mild cases, special elastic bandages and injections that cause desolation of the veins will help.
If there is a problem with the thyroid gland, swelling of the legs may also occur. This disease will require hormone replacement.
Certain medications can also cause swelling: testosterone, some steroids, birth control medications, estrogens, antidepressants and other medications.
The cause may be heart failure , or a disease such as phlebitis of the lower extremities. If one leg is swollen and hurts, most likely it is phlebitis; with heart failure, both legs swell and there is no pain.
Another reason for swollen feet is
Cat. 10 years. Castrated. I've never been sick. Not vaccinated. I’ve never left the house - I’m afraid. I was moping for 2 days and lay curled up in a ball. He felt hot to the touch, was shaking and freezing. A thermometer was stuck between my leg and stomach and showed 39.7 (it was daytime). When the cat got up and went to the kitchen to get food, it turned out that he couldn’t walk - his hind legs were tangled. In the evening we were taken to the clinic. There the temperature was measured rectally - 38.5 (normal). The examination did not reveal anything - his back does not hurt, and nothing hurts at all, there are no signs of infections, but his legs are paralyzed. They donated blood - increased bilirubin. They say it’s not the legs that are losing weight, it’s the liver. They took an x-ray in 2 projections - everything is normal.
It seems that after the first injections were given yesterday and today, the cat began to move better, he walks unsteadily, but his butt stopped falling on his side. So it helps?
1. Have you encountered anything similar? What causes cats to lose their paws? There was no injury. What worries me is that, in fact, there is no diagnosis - they prescribed treatment based on a stroke, but what if it’s something else?
it's homemade. She put people on their feet - whom everyone refused. She helped my mother’s old cat a lot - he almost stopped walking, barely ate, and now he runs around like a young cat. Call, explain the situation, I think she can help. Her name is Lesya.
After listening to us on the phone, she offered to come and put a cannula for an IV for the cat for 4 days. Drop essentials and prescribed vitamins into it. After some thought, we refused - IMHO the cannula will bother the cat and he will rip it off.
for a diseased liver there is a special food (dry and canned) at Hill's; if you have difficulty swallowing, buy canned food, add boiled water (not hot!) and dilute it into purees.
also - once they picked up a cat with a broken sacrum and non-functional hind legs, they injected him, I can’t say for sure, like celebralysin
Although rare, it does happen that street and indoor cats, cats and kittens bite strongly, and in this situation it is worth knowing exactly what to do and how to treat the bite site. It is equally important to know what to do if you are bitten by a mad cat at home or on the street, and what measures should be taken to avoid unpleasant consequences.
The article provides general information and advice that cannot replace a trip to the doctor, because it is impossible to say exactly why an animal is sick and what consequences to expect without an examination by a doctor, and the information presented is for informational purposes only.
If a cat bites your hand and the wound bleeds slightly, then there is no need to stop the bleeding - microorganisms contained in the cat’s saliva will come out along with it. After the bleeding has stopped, the wound can be treated with iodine or hydrogen peroxide; the traditional method is to wash it with laundry soap, rubbing it into the wound for about 10 minutes. If the hand is swollen, red and the person bitten has a fever, you should immediately consult a doctor. Self-medicating and taking antibiotics is dangerous to your health!
If you are bitten by a cat, you should contact a surgeon or traumatologist. Treatment, depending on the clinical picture, will be prescribed by the doctor.
If a cat has bitten your finger, it is swollen, it hurts, it hurts - you need to contact a surgeon as soon as possible. The doctor will perform initial surgical treatment and prescribe treatment. Every minute of delay will turn into days needed for healing.
You should definitely seek help from a doctor if you are bitten by a cat with rabies. Even a minor scratch from an animal with rabies can cause infection and have serious consequences, which are easier to prevent at the very beginning of the disease. The decision about whether the patient needs preventive vaccinations is made by the doctor.

- atypical - the animal is subject to apathy and drowsiness. It's quite rare
Furry pets bite less often than dogs, but the chance of getting injured from sharp teeth is really high. A domestic cat or a wild cat can bite. Of all pet bites, cat teeth account for one fifth. The main risk group for cat bites is children, who often play carelessly with a wayward pet. This includes teenagers trying to pet a stray animal.
Certain diseases are transmitted with cat saliva; the wound must be treated correctly. If your leg is swollen after a cat bite, the injury should be taken with the utmost seriousness.
A cat, unlike a dog, cannot seriously harm. The jaws of domestic cats are small and weak, the teeth are small, and significant injury is unlikely. However, a cat bite can pose a serious danger.
Dog teeth usually injure the skin and soft tissue more severely, but dog bite marks heal faster and easier than cat bites. This is due to the characteristics of the microflora contained in the cat's mouth. A cat's saliva contains microorganisms that can cause inflammation in the wound, slowing down the healing process.
The short but sharp teeth of a domestic cat penetrate deep into the skin and into the soft tissue underneath, infecting the wound. If you are bitten by a cat and your leg is swollen, you may need to take antibiotics.
Externally, a wound from a cat's teeth can be misleading. Unlike a dog’s teeth, the marks from a cat’s teeth are pinpoint, but penetrate deep into the soft tissue, damaging muscles or tendons. A bite to the joint area is especially dangerous.

The unpleasant thing is that the bite site takes a long time to heal. As a rule, the wound is healed by an unaesthetic scar, and the part of the body that was bitten by the cat receives a cosmetic defect for life. On pov
I couldn’t breathe and my heart hurt, an ambulance was called and gave me an injection in my left buttock. After the device was inserted, my entire left leg became paralyzed and sensation disappeared. A week later it went down to my ankle, but my foot doesn’t feel anything and it hurts to step on it, which makes me limp. Tell me, will this go away with time?
It often happens that after an unsuccessful intramuscular injection, the complaints you write about arise. This is due to nerve damage. Most often this goes away on its own, without treatment.
Thank you very much for your answer. I stopped giving injections. The right leg also goes numb (foot). And my lower back also hurts. Unbearable pain at night. During the day it’s still tolerable. I'm trying to walk. But I'm limping. I can't stand for long. Can you tell me what kind of gymnastics or injections to do?
After treatment in the hospital and clinic there are no results. I also limp, my heels and butt go numb, I have frequent urination and incontinence.
The described complaints indicate possible compression of the roots of the cauda equina; the situation requires further examination, MRI of the lumbosacral spine and, possibly, consultation with a neurosurgeon
Complaints alone cannot always help in choosing treatment tactics. What you described indicates signs of root compression. Perhaps it developed as a result of a herniated intervertebral disc with prolapse into the spinal canal. What additional research methods were prescribed to you and their results?
The pain was in the back of my head. At the hospital I was prescribed magnesia due to slightly elevated blood pressure. The next day I gave one injection in the buttock. The injection site was swollen and there was blood. I felt pain at the injection site but it was tolerable. Almost a week later my leg and buttock started to hurt. It’s as if there is something inside, but I don’t feel any bumps with my hand

Contact a neurologist, it looks like sciatica or lumbar sciatica. Inflammation of the sciatic nerve (from the category of radiculitis)
Local Declofenac gel 5%; Movalis 7.5 mg (1 tablet 2 times a day after meals) or Voltaren or indomethacin. Dry heat (local, wool scarf), do not take a bath, only shower. Tablets with caution for peptic ulcers. If you cannot walk, call a doctor at home. Good luck!

it could be a pain in the ovary or the Bartholin gland (maybe I wrote it wrong, I don’t remember the exact name) and radiate to the leg, I had this kind of garbage as a child, from time to time my leg ached up to the knee, I went to the doctors, it turned out I had a female cold
=-Oh, horror..How can I cure this? It’s not the stomach that hurts, it’s the leg that hurts, so maybe you’re wrong about the ovary and the Bartholis gland (what is that by the way)?
May 10, 2011, 11:37 pm
If the pain is severe now, any painkiller will do: analgin/baralgin/ketanov/salpadeine/nurofen. To enhance the effect, you can add solpadeine.
No, thank you, but the pain is not severe, thank God!) It just pulls as if a ligament has torn there... under the knee in the thigh

maybe varicose veins? Then you can't have a hot bath... or a blood clot?
Most likely varicose veins. I was in so much pain, they did an ultrasound of my veins, it turned out to be inflammation, treatment - compression garments, Detralex courses... Later, a vein came out under my knee (blue, lumpy). I decided to operate and removed a vein all over my leg.

Author, some fears are written to you) This happens to me when I don’t do sports for a long time, and then I suddenly put stress on my legs and butt. Several times I drove a very long distance to another city by car and this also happened, that is, this could be due to a sedentary lifestyle. Well, another option is that the muscle could have caught a cold. In short, if this happens rarely, it will pass. If often, go to a therapist. In general, massage and stretching of this muscle will certainly help you.

I mean, this is a shock for me((((I don’t know! That is, the conclusion is: either radiculitis, or inflammation of the ovaries, or a blood clot (!!), or a varicose vein, or inflammation of the sciatic nerve! *aaaaaaaa*

Oh, thank you. They reassured me)))) In fact, it’s the same for me - I adore sports, but sometimes I don’t do it for a long time, right now I have a sedentary lifestyle, so I’ll probably sign up for a massage! Can you advise which massage will help me?
May 11, 2011, 00:37
Author, it’s up to you to decide, but it’s better to take any action after consultation with a neurologist. If this is inflammation of the sciatic nerve, massage is contraindicated during the acute period.
May 11, 2011, 08:50
Yes, the sciatic nerve. Maybe they caught a cold or sprained their leg. I don’t think it’s the ovaries, it’s neuralgia.

It probably doesn't hurt that much.

Arthur, this is sciatica (inflammation of the sciatic nerve). The pain may worsen from sitting for a long time, sneezing, or coughing. Go to a neurologist, he will help you in this situation. Most likely, he will prescribe an MRI of the lumbosacral region. If there is no hernia, then you will be prescribed painkillers (Movalis, ibuprofen). I have the same problem myself. I just can’t get rid of this illness, I’ve tried almost everything I can, I myself have been swimming for many years. Good luck to you!

At first in the morning the lower back on the right was very painful and the pain radiated down to my leg. Now the lower back almost doesn’t hurt and the leg doesn’t stop. What could this be? Hello. Please help me, I'm 23 years old. My right leg has been hurting for a year now, the pain starts from the buttock, extends to the knee and my ankle hurts. The pain still radiates to the groin. With severe pain, the veins swell. Could this be related to gynecology?
Good afternoon, how was it for you? or did you find out what it was?
My leg has also been hurting since the summer of 2016, it started hurting under my left knee, it radiates to my thigh, sometimes it goes to the groin (testicles), sometimes the pain goes down to my ankle. The pain is not severe, itchy, sometimes it doesn’t hurt for a couple of days. I went to the Therapist, neurologist, Urologist, everywhere they said everything was fine, they said I need to do an MRI, but we don’t have an MRI in our city, I’m waiting for a vacation to go and get examined
