Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with hot medicinal baths, mud and rubbing was once the only thing doctors could offer their patients. Nowadays, sanatorium treatment of rheumatoid arthritis is rather the final stage of therapy, improving the condition of the joints, calming the nervous system and metabolism.
A patient with rheumatoid arthritis can be referred to a sanatorium after a decrease in the activity of the main process , in the absence of exacerbations from the cardiovascular system during the last year and circulatory failure no higher than stage I. Naturally, the patient must retain the ability to self-care.
Contraindications will be unabated inflammatory activity, severe circulatory failure of II and III degrees, hypertension, concomitant damage to the liver, kidneys, pregnancy.
It is undesirable to refer patients with severe irreversible deformities of joints such as ankylosis, especially if in ordinary life a person cannot do without outside help.
If the patient's treatment program includes steroid hormones, you should pay attention to their dose. It is advisable that at least two to three months pass after stopping the main course of hormone therapy. If they are taken for a long time in a minimal maintenance dose, this will not be a contraindication to sanatorium treatment.
As before, the main point of treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in the sanatorium is balneotherapy . Taking a course of hot baths can significantly reduce pain to such an extent that the dosage of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be reduced, or even eliminated completely. The same goes for hormones.
Hydrogen sulfide baths improve peripheral blood circulation, therefore, the processes of restoration of cartilage tissue are somewhat stimulated by improving the nutrition of the synovial membrane of the joint. The work of the heart, the acid-base balance of the blood are normalized, and metabolism is restored.
Radon baths are considered one of the most effective for patients with rheumatoid arthritis. In places where there are no natural sources of radon, such baths are prepared artificially. Depending on the concentration of this radioactive gas, baths can be strong, medium or weak. Moreover, the effect continues for several hours after the procedure is stopped.
Of great importance for patients is the restorative effect of radon baths on the gastric mucosa, which in these patients suffers from large doses of steroid and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Salt baths irritate skin receptors, activate the central and peripheral nervous systems, which lead to the restoration of many body functions. Local irritation provokes the growth of new vessels, blood flow to the affected joints increases and reparative processes begin there. The activity of the heart is normalized, mood improves, and the production of internal secretion hormones is stimulated. Depending on individual indicators, the concentration of salts in baths may also vary.
Iodine-bromine baths are good for patients with concomitant endocrine pathologies and disorders of the cardiovascular system. They have a calming effect, normalize sleep, relieve irritability and nervousness.
In addition to baths, mud applications are good for rheumatoid arthritis. But here you should approach it strictly individually, because mud therapy puts stress on the heart, blood vessels, and lungs. At the same time, if the patient tolerates these procedures well, the therapeutic effect consists precisely in training the respiratory and cardiovascular systems and increasing their resistance to the disease. Silt, peat mud, and ozokerite have a significant anti-inflammatory effect.
If the condition of the patients allows, all these procedures can be combined with physiotherapeutic treatment, massage and elements of physical therapy. All prescriptions and their implementation must be carefully recorded in the sanatorium book so that their effect on each individual patient can be analyzed.
Sanatorium treatment of rheumatoid arthritis involves the use of hot medicinal baths, mud and rubbing. Until recently, these were the only methods of treating this serious disease; doctors simply did not know other ways! But today, sanatorium methods of treating rheumatoid arthritis are more likely to serve as the final stage in treatment, and not as the main one, as before. These procedures improve the condition of joints, normalize metabolism and calm the nervous system.
Usually, doctors refer a patient with arthritis to sanatorium-resort treatment only after the activity of the main process has decreased, and also if there are no complications associated with the activity of the cardiovascular system. The patient is allowed to have circulatory failure no higher than grade 1. And of course, the patient must be physically active enough to take care of himself.
Contraindications to sanatorium-resort treatment: inflammatory activity, circulatory failure of 2 and 3 degrees, hypertension, liver damage, pregnancy, severe joint deformities.
If the patient was treated with hormones, it is necessary to check what doses were used. If the doses were minimal, and the hormones themselves have been taken for a long time, this will not be a contraindication to steroid hormone therapy.
In general, the most popular method of treating rheumatoid arthritis in a sanatorium is balneotherapy. A course of hot baths reduces pain to such a level that it is sometimes possible to reduce the dosage of anti-inflammatory drugs to a minimum.
When taking hydrogen sulfide baths, peripheral blood circulation improves, and this slightly stimulates the regenerative processes of cartilage tissue and improves the nutrition of the synovial membrane of the joints. Ultimately, heart function and the acid-base balance of the blood are normalized, and metabolism is restored.
Rheumatoid arthritis is the most common chronic joint disease in children. Although children are the smallest group among all patients with rheumatoid arthritis, the severity of the disease and its possible consequences constantly push rheumatologists to search for new, increasingly effective treatment methods.
Rheumatoid arthritis, the symptoms and treatment of which we will consider today, is a very difficult disease. Most likely, you will not be able to rid your child of it forever. But you can improve your condition and you must do it, so let’s delve into everything in order.
The disease is associated with impaired immunity. The main reason is the deposition of immune complexes on the cells of the synovial membrane of the joints and on the cells of the internal organs, due to which inflammation develops and the destruction of bone and cartilage tissue of the joints occurs, the space between the ends of the bones narrows. But not only bones suffer, the functioning of internal organs is disrupted.
Why immune disorders begin to occur in a child’s body, leading to the development of rheumatoid arthritis, there is no clear answer yet.
Half of the cases of childhood rheumatoid arthritis are in children under 5 years of age. A child's behavior will tell attentive parents a lot, especially if it has changed.
In the chronic stage , persistent contractures, partial and complete ankylosis are observed, deformation of many joints is pronounced, and subluxations in individual joints. Therapeutic gymnastics for such disabled people is aimed at using all the remaining motor capabilities of the patient, developing replacement movements, a general effect on the body, and, if possible, improving blood circulation and breathing. You should work on less affected joints, increasing mobility in them.
If, with I and II degrees of functional joint insufficiency, devices should not be used that in the future may interfere with the correct execution of movements, then with III degrees of functional insufficiency, it is necessary for each disabled person to look for devices that facilitate movement and self-care.
Contraindications for prescribing classical massage for arthritis: the acute phase of RA, as well as the presence of a concomitant disease for which massage is not prescribed (neoplasms, osteomyelitis, skin diseases, infectious diseases). Contraindications for prescribing segmental mass to patients are also: 1) osteochondrosis of the cervicothoracic spine with clinical manifestations; 2) severe muscle soreness; 3) residual effects after brain injury; 4) hypertension.
Classic and segmental massage is prescribed daily or every other day, for a course of treatment - 12-15 procedures.
Connective tissue forms the basis of all organs, creating their unique frame; the outer shells of internal organs, joints, and ligaments consist of it. The main functions of connective tissue are support and protection of the body. There are a number of diseases that affect connective tissue.
These diseases are called diffuse connective tissue diseases or collagenoses. This group includes rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic scleroderma and other diseases.
The development of collagenosis is associated with changes in the immune system, which develop under the influence of various factors: stress, taking medications, intense solar radiation, chemicals, or several of these factors at the same time. Of particular importance are burdened heredity, as well as congenital defects of the immune system.
The main symptoms of connective tissue diseases are various arthritis, lesions of the skin and its appendages, and pathological changes in internal organs.
All collagenoses have a chronic course and are prone to progression. Therefore, timely treatment significantly improves the prognosis of the disease. The main method of treating collagenosis remains the prescription of medications, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids and cytostatics - drugs that affect the body's immune system. These medications make it possible to slow down the progression of the disease, achieve long-term remission, and maintain working capacity. Local treatment is applied to the affected joints in the form of various ointments, compresses, and intra-articular injections of drugs. Among the various methods of treating diffuse connective tissue diseases, courses of sanatorium-resort treatment are of great importance.
The vast majority of patients diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis do not even suspect what untimely and inadequate treatment of this disease can lead to. That is why specialists try to warn each such patient about the possible risk of developing serious complications and even disability if they are careless about the treatment of their disease.
Treatment of psoriatic arthritis requires a comprehensive approach
It is no secret that a decade ago psoriatic arthritis, the treatment of which must be comprehensive, was considered a disease that did not require the use of drugs with anti-erosive effects.
But now more and more doctors are inclined to believe that it is possible to stop the pathological process that destroys the articular surfaces only with the help of antirheumatic drugs, which today form the basis for the treatment of the disease.
A decision on the advisability of prescribing a particular type of treatment for psoriatic arthritis should be made exclusively by a qualified doctor after carefully studying the patient’s medical history and conducting all the necessary tests.
The choice of tactics for treating psoriatic arthritis in each individual patient depends on a huge number of factors, among which the main role is played by the degree of neglect of the pathological process, the area of destruction of the articular surfaces, the age of the patient and the individual characteristics of his body.
Naturally, effective treatment of psoriatic arthritis must be comprehensive and include drug correction of the painful condition, diet therapy, exercise therapy and physiotherapeutic treatment.
Drug treatment of psoriatic arthritis is the leading method in the treatment of this pathological condition, which is implemented by prescribing to the patient dosage forms from the groups of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, basic antirheumatic drugs, as well as steroids, tumor necrosis factor inhibitors, and the like.
There is a wide range of medications available to treat psoriatic arthritis.
Drug therapy for the disease has several goals:
Until recently, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs were the basis for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis, as they effectively relieved inflammation and prevented the spread of erosive processes on the articular surfaces.
A huge disadvantage in treating the disease with NSAIDs is the toxicity of drugs of this series in relation to the walls of the stomach.
Long-term use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can provoke the development of a peptic ulcer in a patient, so doctors recommend taking additional drugs along with the main treatment to protect the mucous membrane of the digestive tract.
Drugs that can modify the course of the pathological process and slow down its progression include basic antirheumatic drugs, among which methotrexate is the gold standard of quality.
Methotrexate slows the progression of the disease
The drug should be taken strictly under the supervision of the attending physician, as it can cause severe side effects. The initial dose of methotrexate for psoriatic arthritis should be no more than 10-15 mg per week with the possibility of gradually increasing it to 25-30 mg per week.
Methotrexate for psoriatic arthritis, which has mixed reviews from patients, is effective in almost 80% of cases, therefore it is widely used in medical practice.
Glucocorticosteroids can quickly eliminate the main symptoms of the disease. Hormonal drugs have a huge number of effects, so they are not recommended to be taken systemically and are prescribed mainly as local therapy.
Injections for psoriatic arthritis, with the help of which the drug is injected directly into the joint cavity, have proven to be very effective. In severe forms of the disease, in clinical cases with an almost complete absence of movement in the affected joint, doctors prescribe diprospan to patients for psoriatic arthritis, which perfectly demonstrates its effectiveness in relation to diseased joints, and also has a positive effect on the affected areas of the skin.
A drug such as sulfasalazine has a powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect.
Clinical studies have confirmed its effectiveness in psoriasis, so in recent years the drug can increasingly be found in treatment regimens for the disease.
Sulfasalazine for psoriatic arthritis is prescribed in a dose of up to 2 g and is taken for a fairly long period of time.
The question of the advisability of prescribing sulfosalazine should be decided by a specialist in psoriatic arthritis, taking into account the location of the pathological process, its prevalence and the individual characteristics of the patient’s body.
In parallel with drug treatment of psoriatic arthritis, the patient is prescribed a special diet, which makes it possible to limit to a minimum the intake of substances into the human body that can provoke further exacerbations of the disease.
People with psoriatic arthritis should adhere to the following dietary recommendations:
A diet for psoriatic arthritis of the joints is an excellent addition to the main treatment and allows you to potentiate the effect of medications, alleviate the pathological process and avoid exacerbations of the disease.
There is a special diet according to Pegano. You will learn more from the video:
The effectiveness of physiotherapy in the treatment of psoriatic arthritis has long been proven, so experts recommend that their patients periodically take the following courses:
In order to relieve stiffness from the affected joints and reduce pain, it is not necessary to use only ointments and tablets for psoriatic arthritis.
Currently, there is a specially developed program of exercises for patients with joint psoriasis, aimed at increasing the range of motion in the joints, mitigating the symptoms of the disease, strengthening the muscles, improving their elasticity, and maintaining weight at an acceptable level for the body.
Exercise program for psoriatic arthritis patients aims to alleviate symptoms of the disease
Gymnastics for psoriatic arthritis is a real chance to mitigate the main manifestations of the disease and significantly alleviate its course.
It is no secret that psoriatic arthritis, as one of the manifestations of psoriasis, is a very serious pathological process, the treatment of which should be carried out exclusively by a qualified specialist.
As for traditional medicine, classical doctors do not deny its effectiveness in treating the disease, but they also do not recommend using it as a basic treatment for the disease.
Treatment of psoriasis arthritis with folk remedies is allowed as an excellent addition to the main therapeutic regimen and allows you to get rid of some manifestations of inflammation, reduce joint pain and improve the general condition of the patient.
Folk remedies are a good addition to the main therapeutic regimen
Ointments for psoriatic arthritis based on folk recipes, most of which are easy to prepare in the most ordinary kitchen, perfectly relieve swelling and pain in joints affected by psoriasis.
To treat psoriatic arthritis at home, you can use fresh carrots, finely chopped with the addition of a few drops of turpentine and vegetable oil. Form an ointment from the listed components, which should be applied to sore spots at night.
Among the most popular infusions that are used as a treatment for psoriatic arthritis using folk remedies are the following:
Sanatorium-resort treatment of psoriatic arthritis is indicated during the period when the main manifestations of the disease subside. Sanatoriums on the seashore are considered to be the most successful and useful for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis.
For patients who suffer from psoriasis, experts recommend visiting sunny resorts at least once a year, without waiting for exacerbations of the disease.
Treatment of psoriatic arthritis in a sanatorium by the sea is most effective
Recently, more and more patients with psoriatic arthritis are choosing to improve their health on the shores of the Dead Sea in Israel. Israeli medicine has indeed become able to accomplish the almost impossible. Thanks to secret techniques, mud based on Dead Sea water, special scrubs and masks, local specialists work real miracles, significantly helping their patients in the complex process on the path to recovery.
Unfortunately, there is no clear answer to the question: “Is it possible to completely cure psoriatic arthritis?”
Doctors are in no hurry to reassure their patients and do not guarantee them a complete cure for the disease.
Naturally, thanks to advanced developments in the field of medicine and the pharmaceutical industry, specialists are able to achieve stable remission of the disease and stop the progression of pathological destruction of articular surfaces, but doctors are not yet able to completely rid a sick person of psoriasis.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune systemic disease. It is characterized by inflammation of the connective tissue with progressive damage to the joints. The disease requires long-term treatment. After eliminating the acute manifestations of the disease, physiotherapy and sanatorium treatment are used.
Rheumatoid arthritis develops against a background of immune system disorders. The exact cause of the disease, as with many autoimmune pathologies, has not been established. Provoking factors may be:
These factors can trigger immune system cells to attack the joint lining cells, causing inflammation. The joints become swollen and painful. In addition, cells of the immune system attack blood vessels.
The disease develops gradually. At an early stage, the interphalangeal joints of the hands are usually affected. There is stiffness in the morning and pain when moving. The progressive disease leads to irreversible joint deformation. Typical extra-articular manifestations when diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis:

To prevent and treat ARTHRITIS, our regular reader uses the increasingly popular method of NON-SURGERY treatment, recommended by leading German and Israeli orthopedists. After carefully reviewing it, we decided to offer it to your attention.
The appearance of subcutaneous nodules in the area of the wrist and elbow joints indicates a high degree of disease activity. The clinical picture of the disease can be pronounced, and during the period of remission the symptoms can completely disappear.
Treatment for arthritis is aimed at suppressing inflammation and preventing the consequences that result from dysfunction. Drug therapy includes the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids, and immunosuppressants. The final stage of complex therapy is sanatorium treatment.
Sanatorium treatment is aimed at improving the condition of joints, restoring the nervous system and normalizing metabolism. Indications for referral to a sanatorium are relief of acute symptoms and the absence of contraindications from the cardiovascular system.
There are a number of contraindications:
The conditions in the sanatorium allow patients to maintain their health and relax. As a rule, they are located in ecologically clean areas: in forests or on the coasts. The main advantage of spa treatment is the use of unique techniques. The most common method is balneotherapy (the use of natural or artificial mineral waters). Balneological procedures may include a course of hydrogen sulfide, iodine-bromine, salt, and radon baths.
In addition to balneotherapy, the doctor may prescribe a course of physiotherapy, massage or physical therapy. The implementation of prescriptions must be monitored, so records are kept for subsequent analysis of the effect of the procedures on the patient’s condition. Sanatorium-resort treatment brings relief only if the specialist’s recommendations are followed.
Hydrogen sulfide or macestin baths help improve peripheral blood circulation and nutrition of the inner layer of the joint capsule. Hydrogen sulfide is a binary chemical compound of hydrogen and sulfur that affects cellular structures. Due to this, processes aimed at restoring cartilage tissue are stimulated. The functions of the heart, the acid-base balance of the blood are normalized, and metabolic processes are restored. Matsestin procedures have a relaxing effect on muscles and improve tissue elasticity.
The healing effect of hydrogen sulfide is aimed at improving energy and metabolic processes in the joints, which helps reduce pain, stop the inflammatory process, and improve the motor functions of the joints. For baths, mineral water with a hydrogen sulfide content of more than 10 mg per liter is used. After completing a course of treatment, most patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis experience an improvement in their overall health. Hydrogen sulfide procedures help reduce the characteristic signs of the disease:
Radon baths are considered one of the most effective balneological procedures. The venue for such procedures may be a sanatorium or a specialized clinic. In the absence of natural radon sources, such baths can be prepared artificially.
Depending on the radon content in mineral water, baths can be weak (200-1500 Bq/l), medium (1500-7500 Bq/l) or strong (over 7500 Bq/l). Baths affect the body due to ?-radiation arising from the decay of radon. The effect of radon lasts for several hours after the procedures. The therapeutic effect lasts for more than six months. After treatment, there is a decrease in the patient's need for painkillers or other medications.
Radon baths are prescribed for arthritis with low activity and have a complex effect on the body. After completing the course, there is an improvement in blood circulation, a decrease in the inflammatory process, and a decrease in the intensity of pain. Radon therapy can reduce thyroid activity and blood pressure. Tissue regeneration is stimulated and harmful oxidative stressors are eliminated. The condition of muscles, tendons, and blood vessels improves.
Water enriched with iodine and bromine has a positive effect on the general condition of the body, both physical and mental. After the procedures, stress resistance increases and sleep normalizes. Iodine-bromine baths have an anti-inflammatory effect, accelerate blood flow, and help restore the immune system.
During the procedures, bromine and iodine ions penetrate the body through the skin and quickly reach the endocrine glands through the bloodstream. As a result, the volume of circulating blood increases due to a decrease in heart rate, metabolic processes are restored, inflammatory processes are inhibited, and pain sensitivity is reduced. In addition, the procedures help lower blood pressure, produce thyroid hormones, and reduce the degree of allergic reactions.
If it is not possible to visit a sanatorium, a clinic can become the place for the procedures. Iodine-bromine baths can be taken even at home. To achieve the necessary therapeutic effect and ensure the penetration of ions into the bloodstream, it is necessary to maintain the proportions of chemical elements.
Salt baths or sodium chloride baths are indicated if mild rheumatoid arthritis is diagnosed. The salt concentration can be weak (10-20 g/l), medium (20-40 g/l) and strong (40-80 g/l). Sodium chloride waters may contain small amounts of calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese and other mineral ions, but the main effect is exerted by chlorine and sodium ions.
A concentrated sodium chloride solution has a stimulating effect on skin receptors, positively affecting the condition of the entire body. Local irritant action increases blood flow to the affected joints and activates recovery processes. As a result, blood supply and tissue nutrition improves, and the activity of the thyroid gland, hypothalamus and pituitary gland is activated.
Procedures used for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis help improve the condition of the joints. In addition, sodium chloride baths tone the nervous system. After the procedures, patients experience an improvement in their psycho-emotional state and increased performance.
Mud therapy or peloid therapy involves the use of natural mud for medicinal purposes. When rheumatoid arthritis is diagnosed, mud applications or wraps are prescribed. Such procedures are effective, since therapeutic mud contains organic substances that normalize the condition of blood vessels, tissues and body systems.
Peat bog deposits and sediments of reservoirs can be used as therapeutic mud. Under the influence of various natural factors, therapeutic mud is enriched with biogenic components that have a high therapeutic effect. Such components may be compounds of sulfur, carbon, and iron. The place of peloid therapy can be a sanatorium or a clinic.
Treatment with mud is contraindicated for:
Therefore, when prescribing mud procedures, an individual approach is required. If the procedures are well tolerated, mud therapy, in addition to its positive effect on blood vessels, helps improve the condition of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Sanatorium. For many of us, this word evokes pleasant associations associated with relaxation during the holidays and recuperation. But treatment of arthrosis of the knee joint in a sanatorium for patients suffering from this disease is mandatory and necessary. What types of treatments are offered at these facilities? Should you agree to treatment in foreign preventive centers or should you still prefer domestic medical institutions?
Spa treatment for arthrosis of the knee joint includes many different procedures, many of which are closely related to the characteristics of the area in which the institution is located. For example, there are about ten large orthopedic centers in the Czech Republic. Each of the Czech centers has its own exclusive, narrow focus and successfully copes with one or two pathologies. Therefore, when choosing a sanatorium, you should listen to the opinion of the attending physician. Russian sanatoriums usually provide assistance to a wider range of patients, with almost all joint pathologies. The following procedures are traditionally used:
Strictly speaking, each sanatorium is unique. It all depends on the area in which it is located, the climate, and of course the service. If you take these three components, the choice will become obvious. The most popular are the following sanatoriums:
The Baden-Baden sanatorium treats the respiratory system, nervous system, reproductive system, heart disease, musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular diseases, skin allergic reactions, etc.
Treatment and diagnostic base of the sanatorium:
· Balneotherapy (hydrotherapy) – therapeutic baths and showers.
Baths using yellow turpentine have an effect on all skin types; they are effective for diseases of the musculoskeletal system, metabolic disorders, and varicose veins of the lower extremities. Baths using white turpentine emulsion have an effect on all skin types: they cleanse harmful substances, have a tonic effect, and slow down the aging process of skin cells.
Oxygen baths are used to prevent frequent respiratory diseases, to improve immunity, and for skin diseases.
Salt-pine baths are an excellent tonic for your skin. Relieves nervous tension, helps to relax and improve mood, increases the body's resistance to colds.
Iodine-bromine baths are used in the treatment of functional disorders of the nervous system, diseases of the cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal system, digestive organs, skin, endocrine system, and gynecological diseases.
Charcot's shower . Indications: depression, stress, chronic fatigue syndrome, metabolic disorders. obesity, joint diseases, muscle tension, rheumatism, vascular diseases, cellulite treatment.
Underwater shower - massage . Improves metabolic processes.
Circular shower . Refreshes, tones muscles, increases the tone of the vascular system, reduces the excitability of sensory and motor nerves, increases metabolism, and has a sedative effect.
It will help improve your health from many ailments: diseases of the cardiovascular system, metabolic disorders, the recovery period after prolonged hypokinesia, bronchial asthma, hypofunction of the endocrine glands, diseases of the central nervous system, skin diseases, diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
This is a room whose surface is made of sea salt. The therapeutic basis of the method is provided by an aerosol spray - a halagenerator. Indications: respiratory diseases, diseases of the cardiovascular system, neuroses, depression, skin diseases.
Standard position (back on the main mat). Back massage, stress relief, relaxation. Help with osteochondrosis and intervertebral disc herniation. Reducing pain in the spine. Used for diabetes, hypertension and hypotension, and high cholesterol.
Position - head 10-15 cm lower from the main mat. Used for: poor vision, shoulder pain, hearing impairment, problems with the thyroid gland, diseases of the nasopharynx, vegetative-vascular distance, scoliosis, osteochondrosis of the cervical spine, intervertebral hernia of the cervical spine.
Position - the head protrudes 10-15 cm beyond the edge of the main mat. Used for: sexual dysfunction, diseases of the genital organs, disorders of the digestive system, diseases of the legs and hip joints.
And also in other situations it is used for: osteoporosis, severe pain, radiculitis, rheumatism, varicose veins, swelling of the legs, high blood pressure, hemorrhoids.
Thanks to its unique composition, Moltaevskaya mud significantly activates the body’s protective functions. Its healing properties simply have no equal among many other substances. This mud can treat anything: vegetative-vascular, gynecological, skin, nervous diseases, it helps well with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, burns, eczema, and much more. In addition, mud has a tonic and restorative effect on the body.
Clinical observations and studies conducted to study the mechanism of action of Moltaev mud on the body gave reason to consider it a valuable therapeutic agent that acts on all organs and systems of the human body, changing its reactivity. Microelements, vitamins and biostimulants, which are so necessary for the correction of impaired functions in various pathologies, have been discovered. This set of components ensures high therapeutic effectiveness of mud therapy , promoting restoration, stabilization and prevention of health.
The important thing is that Moltaevskaya mud has a healing effect not only at the point of contact with the skin, but also on the body as a whole.
Use this healing mud and you will provide invaluable help to your body!
Psoriatic arthritis (PA) is a complex and insidious complication of psoriasis, which in some cases develops even without the appearance of skin rashes or with a minimal amount of them. Like its close relative, rheumatoid arthritis, PA has a non-infectious, autoimmune nature - at some point the body's defense system fails and begins to damage and destroy its own tissues - in this case we are talking about the tissues of the joints and nearby bones.
An inflammatory process gradually develops in the joint, which either flares up or dies down. The sequence of remissions and exacerbations can be influenced by:
At the same time, it was noted that pregnancy, on the contrary, leads to a decrease in the severity of inflammation and long-term remission. Obviously, the hormonal background in the body of the expectant mother has a beneficial effect on certain biochemical processes that suppress inflammation.
In the ICD reference book, psoriatic arthritis is called psoriatic arthropathy. If the inflammatory process is localized in the vertebral joints, it is also called psoriatic spondylitis, but this occurs in only 3% of cases. Most often, inflammation is localized in the small joints of the feet and hands, and for some reason the disease most of all loves the distal (outermost) fingers - the thumb and little finger. Typically, inflammation affects all joints of the affected limb, but unevenly. The manifestation can be either symmetrical or asymmetrical (but with rheumatoid arthritis, both legs or arms almost always suffer).
At first, the affected joints ache, swell slightly, and lose mobility. Stiffness is felt mainly in the morning, within an hour after waking up, while with other forms of arthritis or arthrosis, discomfort occurs mainly in the evening and after physical activity. Gradually, the swelling becomes more noticeable, the skin over the joint turns red or becomes bluish, and local hyperthermia is observed. Due to the process of osteolysis (resorption of bone tissue), the fingers become deformed, acquiring a specific sausage shape - a typical symptom by which a rheumatologist accurately recognizes psoriatic arthritis. The presence of even a small number of characteristic rashes on the skin leaves no doubt.
In addition to the interphalangeal joints, arthropathy successfully affects the wrist, elbow, shoulder, ankle and knee joints. In some cases, even large hip joints become victims of the disease, although the process of their deformation lasts much longer than the destruction of the bones of the toes and hands. If the disease is not treated, the deformity becomes irreversible and can result in necrosis of the hands and gangrene, requiring urgent amputation. By this point, usually the entire limb is in extremely poor condition.
Psoriatic arthritis, like psoriasis itself, is completely incurable, but such sad consequences, of course, can be avoided. In order to compensate for the course of PA and ensure stable remission, complex therapy is used, which includes:
Treatment of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis in a sanatorium is usually carried out in parallel - the patient is treated for both skin manifestations of the disease and joint damage. In general, sun, air and sea baths generally have a beneficial effect on the body affected by psoriasis, if, of course, you know when to stop and sunbathe only in the morning and evening hours and get out of the sea from time to time. Patients with psoriatic arthritis can also go to a regular seaside resort on the southern coast of Crimea or the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus. There is only one ticklish point - the presence of skin rashes on the patient’s body. If there are a lot of them, it is better not to confuse people and go to specialized balneological resorts where people with this kind of pathology are treated. In our country, the most famous health resorts where patients with psoriatic arthropathy go are Pyatigorsk and Essentuki. The radon clinic is deservedly popular among patients, where the unique properties of the radioactive inert gas radon, which is rich in Pyatigorsk springs, come to the aid of those suffering.
Radon in low concentrations in local radon baths is a source of alpha particles that have an amazing cleansing effect on the body. They selectively neutralize and remove from the body so-called “broken” genes - those with certain flaws in the DNA chain. Radon radiation inexplicably regulates the functioning of the immune system. No, it does not strengthen the immune system, like Eleutherococcus or Echinacea, but makes sure that the body’s own immune-competent cells do not behave in the body according to the principle “Beat your own so that others are afraid,” destroying muscle and joint tissue. Radon baths effectively treat all autoimmune diseases of the skin, joints, musculoskeletal system - psoriasis, rheumatism, psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteochondrosis, polyneuritis, etc.
Guests of the Radon Clinic say that even after arriving at the resort on a course, during the period of exacerbation the patient was able to give up NSAIDs after only seven sessions of radon baths, without which she could no longer sleep or walk. Special exercise therapy courses, which were conducted right in the water of the pool, also provided her with undoubted help.
Exercise therapy and special gymnastics are a mandatory attribute in the treatment complex for psoriatic arthritis. The set of exercises is aimed at maintaining flexibility and mobility of the joints. It is recommended to do it 2-3 times a day. It takes very little time to complete – about 10-15 minutes. Exercises are designed for each joint group:
Thanks to comprehensive treatment, with careful adherence to the recommendations of doctors and under their supervision, it is usually possible to stop the development of the disease and alleviate the symptoms.
In addition to the North Caucasus, there are radon sources in our country in Altai (the famous resort of Belokurikha), in Buryatia, in the Sverdlovsk region and other regions.
With all the healing properties of radon baths, we must not forget that they are a source of radioactive radiation and fanaticism is contraindicated here. Course treatment is prescribed strictly according to indications and not more than once a year. Pregnant and lactating women, people suffering from leukopenia (bleeding), as well as anyone whose work is in one way or another connected with radiation should not take radon baths.
Patients with psoriatic arthritis during non-exacerbation periods are highly recommended to undergo sanatorium-resort treatment.
